This is old-new perhaps, but I only just came across it:

    A Supercomputer Analyzed Covid-19 ...

The bit about breathing through jello strikes a certain note.

Shall we have a sweepstakes on when Mr Trump is admitted to ICU? I say Friday.

@IWRATS - laboured breathing, glassy eyes: he doesn’t look like he has recovered. 7 - 10 days after symptoms that people are typically admitted to IC?

If HMG can install an entire 500 bed hospital in around a week then I'm sure an intensive care setup now exists in the white house. Once a day trump can come off oxygen to conduct a broadcast and occasionally his oxygen enriched car can take him out and about.

Until he is sedated on a ventilator at least.

    /conspiracy theory

    @Stickman

That was my calculation. He's using accessory muscles to breathe. ICU Friday, dead Monday. God save us.

    "God save us."

We have God's representative on Earth, soon to be POTUS Mike Pence.

May have misheard, but did Sturgeon say 20% of cases had been in a hospitality venue (not necessarily infected there)? What about the other 80%? The figures from England suggest students, workplace, and care home infections each form a higher proportion than that.

Obviously navigating between public health needs and need to keep money circulating when the furlough schemes end. Also mental health needs.

We have two governments and they simply don't speak any more and may even be engaging in active deception.

That's the thinnest of justifications for singling out hospitality in a blanket fashion. I've no skin in the game, have been in neither bar nor restaurant since February, but you have to feel for publicans and hoteliers.

Regarding Figure 12 - nothing on schools? Really?

For sure, everyone working in hospitality is in deep doo-doo. That was always going to be the case.

If I was Dictator Benign of All Caledonia I'd have everyone on a universal basic income. Nobody should be destitute because they chose a career that doesn't fit with a viral pandemic.

“I'd have everyone on a universal basic income“

    Yep.

Strange/disappointing that this idea seems to have vanished from public/political discussion.

Exams cancelled next year, just National 5s at the moment, but could also be Highers depending on the situation.

I have to ask why not just take this opportunity to get rid of exams entirely? Assess by coursework and regular testing/assessments. Much fairer representation of learning for most pupils.

Some frightened people with brown skin tried to cross the Channel in a rubber boat. Kate Middleton got a pandemic-appropriate haircut. Alexander Johnson said he'd build a bridge to Northern Ireland.

Grossly unfair on those of us able to access high-performing manic states after only subconsciously considering the course work. It's a swot's charter.

This data from Public Health Scotland gives a breakdown of the number of cases per region across the whole country and includes the population of each area for context. Not included in this list, the worst hit area in Edinburgh is Newington and Dalkeith Road with 222 new cases reported in the seven day period.

The data for that EEN story is from: https://public.tableau.com/profile/phs.covid.19#!/vizhome/COVID-19DailyDashboard_15960160643010/Overview

Click on Cases by neighbourhood then use the Select Local Authority dropdown and you can see each area.

The rate for Newington and Dalkeith Road was 2,945 per 100k for the week to 3rd October, compared to 146 for Edinburgh as a whole.
