@cocoshepherd oooft a 2 year old would finish me off! My wife doesn't work which helped tremendously during the previous year but she has been down with long covid since the start of the year so there is only so much she can do before burning out.

some long covid conditions can be temporarily overcome by chewing raw ginger or a swig of organic oregano oil

but i am not a doctor and its probably a placebo effect

Quite struck by the contrast of the real lived experiences people are sharing on here and the pee-pee Boris and Dido are coming out with

Rest is crucial for your wife, the other most important thing is time.

As @bax said, anecdotally I've heard that mountains of ginger in your dinner can help. Basically eating or drinking things with anti-inflammatory properties (not ibuprofen - you don't want to be taking that).

She should expect flare ups which I found typically happened when other viral illnesses were floating around the kids. Normally as an adult the viruses wouldn't affect you but because your immune system is going bananas then any 'challenge' and it massively overreacts.

Assuming she's been checked over properly and there's nothing else going on then it should settle in time for her.

And yes the 2 year old tries daily to finish me off.

Nobody could have predicted that the virus would mutate ok! Why Public Health England have been sequencing it, goodness only knows.

MPs have called on Dido Harding, the head of NHS test and trace, to prove that the system substantially reduces the spread of coronavirus as efforts continue to contain more transmissible variants she claimed no one had seen coming.

The NHS has been urged to rethink safety for thousands of frontline staff after new research suggested that Covid patients’ coughing is putting them at far greater risk of catching the virus than previously thought.

The study found that coughing generated at least 10 times more infectious “aerosol” particles than speaking or breathing – which could explain why so many NHS staff have fallen ill during the pandemic.

@cocoshepherd thanks, the video was interesting. She had a good few bouts last year but nothing that has lasted this long, it's starting to get to her.

She has just been for another round of bloods last lot were clear.

Wasn't coughing considered the main vector at the start of this?

Its chief weapon is surprise! Surprise and fear; fear and surprise... Its two weapons are fear and surprise, and ruthless efficiency! Its three weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency, and an almost fanatical devotion to the provision of misinformation by the UK Government...

Perhaps all the humbling around lockdowns and quarantines leading to 100,000 deaths was not pandering to right wing libertarian scofflaws. Maybe it was distraction technique to allow Boris to order all the vaccines in the world?

There are roughly 4,000 variants of Covid-19 around the world, according to the UK vaccines minister, who said the British government was storing the mutations so it was better prepared to update vaccines as needed.

Nadhim Zahawi told Sky News there was a “library” of coronavirus mutations being stored to make sure the UK could respond appropriately.

EVERYONE across the UK aged over 50 should receive a Covid jag "by May," the UK Government’s Cabinet Office has announced, after Downing St said at first it was wrong and then, minutes later, made clear it was right in a chaotic briefing with journalists.

My mum had her first dose this morning but didn't get a sticker. She and my dad are each the same age as one of my Ayr in-laws, neither of whom have yet had their invite.

@srd yes scary stuff, source of mutations in the immune suppressed claim but with only small number of case studies. Distinction though between long haul Covid condition and this chap who was still testing positive for 5 months until he died. Boston, Mass.
