I saw an estimated figure of 5,000 dead from EOtHO. Not sure on what basis but it's bound to have infected quite a few folk.

International travel last summer is just mind-blowing as a [Rule 2] you to the society we live in.

One of the biggest failures in controlling spread has been the lack of proper financial support for people who need to isolate.

£22bn spent on track and trace. Giving people with positive tests a few thousand pounds to let them stay at home for 14 days isolation would have been a far better use of much of this money.

Three-month gap between AstraZeneca jabs makes shot more effective than six-week gap, study says

A three-month gap between doses of the Oxford/AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine results in higher vaccine efficacy than a six-week gap, a new study suggests.

The research indicates that with three months between the first and second dose there was an overall efficacy of 81%, compared to 55% for a six-week interval, PA reports.

The first dose offered 76% protection in the three months between doses, according to the University of Oxford research published in The Lancet.

SCOTS will not have to wear medical grade face masks anytime soon in the fight against coronavirus, John Swinney has confirmed.

The deputy first minister said the idea, which was being “actively explored” by the Scottish Government last month, had been shelved in light of further research.

“I went from being the guy who usually has all the answers to having none. I’ve no idea when I’ll be paid again for doing a job. The uncertainty is so unsettling. I get just over £500 a month and that just covers the mortgage. I’ve sold my car. I’m a keen cyclist and I’ve sold my bikes. I’ve gone for job interviews and you just don’t hear back.”

The vast majority of Conservative voters are among those backing a big increase in the support given to those self-isolating, with some of the government’s own advisers warning that the level of help on offer remains the “huge gaping hole” in the UK’s Covid response.

The Colinton Road seafood and wine restaurant opened last year in the former premises of Bia Bistrot and finds itself going from strength to strength, even as lockdown restrictions remain in place.

On the bright side, young people have the least suicides of any age group, fewer in a year than we have covid deaths in an afternoon. Good to keep in mind, if the people on telly start using suicides to argue about lockdowns.

"There was no effort from any of them to stay apart. They said they ‘didn’t care because everyone else is breaking the rules’, "

Maybe everyone they know is breaking the rules. Which goes to show it's not just social media that creates echo chambers and bubbles.

Was it the two team captains? EEN still after my email.

I see a team of Balerno women walking. Been a threesome since Xmas, yesterday two ahead with their dugs blocking the whole road and four to the rear blocking the whole road. So a. Covid rule breakers and b. In the blinking way. But c. I was very nice waited for them to see me, waited for them to part spoke nicely to them et cetera. Basically if the weather is nice the rules will be broken

Tricky isn’t it,people need other people. Folk need exercise etc.

    "EEN still after my email."

Just use a new private browser window in Firefox etc. and that issue goes away.

Firefox, will try to remember. Though to be honest I am not sure reading the article is more informative than just the headline then filling in the blanks plus avoids risk of reading any of the comments

Dunno who got fined, but the eyewitness and presumably supplier of photae was a civic minded / vigilante type (take your pick) who tried to persuade the kickballers that they oughtn't to be doing their fave thing in the lovely sunshine. I'll bet that went down like the contents of a sewage barge with the 22.

Armageddon will arrive on 29 March (in the form of hordes of Englanders heading north for an Easter break):

    ---

What's the roadmap for lifting lockdown?*

    29 March
People will be allowed to meet outside, either with one other household or within the "rule of six", including in private gardens
The stay at home rule will end but people should stay local as much as possible**

    * - In England only
    ** - Narrator: They won't

And if the 29 March fails to infect sufficient folk, the virus only has to wait 13 days for a great opportunity to prosper. We can "look forward" to AirBnBs being busy again in the spring.

    ---

    No earlier than 12 April:
    All shops allowed to open
Restaurants and pub gardens will be allowed to serve customers sitting outdoors, including alcohol
Gyms and spas can reopen for individuals and households
Hairdressers, beauty salons and other "close contact services" can reopen
UK "staycations" away from home permitted, with self-contained accommodation able to reopen for use by members of the same household

P.S.:- You don't really want to take a look at the suggested dates for Stages 4 and 5 of the England roadmap to easing restrictions, unless you're a virus.
