Opening up of Scotland not 'significantly behind England'

"I don't expect us in our opening up to be significantly behind England." She points out Scotland is roughly two weeks behind, the same as last summer, which led Scotland to stay open for longer. On the 21 June date posited by Boris Johnson, she says she would "literally be making it up" if she gave a date. She's happy for it to be an aspirational date but she can't say it with certainty.

We classify the arguments used to justify road building (keep an eye on 1b in the #COVID crisis!). They’re inconsistent, but they appeal to all persuasions –all bases are covered. So road building is seen as ‘apolitical’, almost as a proof of political competence.

    From the above link:

Proof that people were already using the dates to plan was seen in the huge surge in holidaybookings and the announcement of events such as the Reading and Leeds festival, he said. Using dates created psychological, economic and political “counter-pressures” that would make changing dates increasingly difficult, he said.

Once expectation had been established it was damaging to remove it, he said. “It gives hope if you can stick to those dates; if you don’t it brings despair. And it’s a dangerous strategy.”

Another real risk is that people see the date is approaching and let down their guard.

Yes, as the prisoner neared release he Began to act in skittish ways jeopardizing his release (o.1 % of prisoners are not men) the kindly warders would recognise these symptoms as the condition known as Gate Fever. The cure was to bung the con in solitary for the last six months of his sentence t9 ensure he could get out the gate at the right time.

Tomorrow in the sunshine in the Pentlands you will see many examples of Gate Fever.

Coronavirus levels 'burning quite hot' in some of UK

Although coronavirus levels are still decreasing across much of the UK, there are hotspots that buck the trend. These are in the Midlands and east and west coast of England and some parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.

@gembo, shurely the masses are all indoors watching with due reverence the State Funeral Of Capt Sir Tom on the Beebly channel? Possibly proudly clutching the union flag to calm their beating hearts? (Ed.)

Carnwath is so far west that yes the SPTE orange buses used to have a route and tragically there is a Rangers half and a second half

@gembo, gable end murals? Red, white and blue kerb stones?

Roads in eastern Edina were very busy today. Either:

    - Lots of key workers travailler le Samedi
    - Toutes les familles are getting their messages from les supermarchés
    - Many folks are taking day trips elsewhere

Did notice lots of cars parked up outside various takeaways on the way back this evening, this phenomenon neither corroborates nor disproves any of the above possibilities.
