For the relatively small number of folk who have actually been observing the "Stay At Home" instruction, next month is an opportunity to experience what many, if not most people have been doing for months. Presumably those who were not already "Stay At Home" will leapfrog "Stay Local" to the next phase* despite it not yet being legal?

    * - Obvs certain things will remain impossible until three weeks later, but what can be gotten away with, will...

Announced that Scotrail will be nationalised next year. All public transport essentially is at the moment and as discussed here much before on this thread nationalising them seems inevitable beyond Covid if the services are to survive.

Mrs Garto claiming Guardian article claiming Scotland has rates that are rising where other areas falling.

Implying we shouldn’t be easing our restrictions

At same time the hairdresser has been in touch......

Leith Links swarming on Friday, with the multiple outdoor exercise outfits back in their places. I expect people are remembering last year's reassurances that heat and light help reduce outdoor transmission combined with the factoid of "there were very few outdoor superspreads" which isn't the same as there being no spreading of any kind outdoors.

@chdot & gembo: The graph on the Overview tab of the Public Health Scotland dashboard web site also shows a clear upward trend since early March:

If you dig down a bit on the Cases by Neighbourhood tab (if you can tolerate the glacially slow response time) it indicates that the most recent low point in cases per 100,000 in Scotland as whole was 62.9 on 5th March. Since then it's been trending upwards, with the latest figure dated 16th March being 73.8.

@wingpig: I suspect that you may be reading too much conscious reasoning into such behaviour. I believe a lot of it is a combination of "I'm fed up with this" and "everyone else is doing it why shouldn't I?"

OTOH I was surprised at how busy Fairmilehead Park was when my state-sanctioned exercise tok me that way yesterday afternoon, but on closer viewing it appeared to consist almost entirely of after school sports & exercise for the wains from Pentland Primary.

@ejstubbs, the same site shows cases in Edinburgh are really very low at the moment. Even the few relative hotspots had only 9 cases each over the past seven days.

When the Levels come in there will be a big push for Embra to get a low level so it can get tourists in so it can get a higher level again

Aye, never underestimate the greed of hoteliers and AirBnB hosts...

@crowriver: I know - in fact Edinburgh seems to have been bucking the general trend in the central belt, despite still having the lowest vaccine coverage of any local authority area in Scotland. Unfortunately that doesn't take away from the fact that the rate for Scotland as a whole currently seems to be on an upward trend with certain areas "leading the charge" as it were - which is what the Guardian and other media outlets are reporting.

Twentyish fires on Porty beach when I went past. All at least two metres from each other but groups of twentyish at some of them. Maskless inebriates in Aldi and along the High St.

“Regs do not apply when weather good?“

Well, it’s been ‘established’ - in people’s minds at least - that it’s hard to catch Covid a) outside, b) when it’s warm.

"Guardian bubble graphic reminiscent of a lava lamp."

Early 2000s computer media player software particle visualisations.

Nice and spaced-out people around the base of the hill today, with the roads closed. Exceptions were the people tromping up the road five abreast causing cyclists to squeak their brakes and the clump of sports-team-looking people being made to run circuits on the grass at the crags side of the road and taking up the entire space.
