I saw that. Daughter is more of the pale and interesting variety. As long as vegan supplies hold out she'll be fine.

They were very lax regarding not giving vegans meat when I was in Oz in the early 1990s. I imagine the Vegan trend will be all over Coogee in Sydney and similar in Melbourne. Maybe even Cairns though would be interesting to know. Haaud Oan a wee minute
One vegan, 4 veggie and 37 veggie option
Fave name Snoogies
Hope daughter OK quite something to be so far away

On my ride into deepest East Lothian I encountered unusually high levels of traffic today, even on the back roads. Virus related?

It's a pleasant day weather-wise so I'd guess that people heading to the coast to get some socially distant exercise. A bit like we did last week, in fact, in Gullane.

Thought-provoking opinion piece in The Guardian today:
It's specifically about Australia but I reckon a good proportion of it would apply equally to Great Britain (the island, not the Tory wet dream).

First coronavirus related argument. I'm painting, wife on the way out the door with the boy.
Where you going?
The beach.
WTF are you mad?
This carries on for a bit.
They didn't go, I'm in the bad books.

I guess if you get up at crack of dawn beach will only have dog walkers?

Outdoors fine if you don’t get too close to people.
Beach better when tide is a reasonable way out.

NEPN really busy with both pets, pets & cyclists. So much so I came back via the roads.

Our first argument was last weekend after we decided the kids were staying off school. Daughter was very upset that she wouldn't see her friends and teacher at primary school. Son more disappointed about his various after school activities. After a couple of days they both saw what was happening in the news and agreed with our decision.
I am going to try to avoid parks etc. on the weekend, totally hoaching with folk. During week maybe better - even though folk WFH they are tending to observe usual working hours, more or less.
Seeing lots of stories about the second home and camper van brigade clogging the roads up heading for the hills, coast, etc. They seem to think it's a holiday?

8 out of 10 buses were single occupancy some still stopping at stops I suppose to avoid running early.
A train also appeared to be empty. I went to Gyle Morrison, there was bread but only white break. I over heard a Morrison employee saying all their toilet roll is being sent to the NHS, none on the shelf. They also said there is going to be restricted opening hours from monday think it was 8 till 8
I was not looking for any but did buy some kitchen paper with cleaner in it not quite sure why.

@crowriver, always nice when children see things their parents way. Long may it last.

Went out for a road bimble - Harlaw parked up down to the elbow bend & Threipmuir down to & along Red Moss rd. Lot of MTBers had driven up there.
Muirburn also on the go.
Gaia might need to shout a little louder.

Ski centres still open too. (Tenant working Glenshee).
ScotGov saying that people campervanning onto islands not appreciated. We had request from our lodger from last year if he could re-locate here from London as that is high risk area.
It is ok to cycle for leisure though?Posted 5 years ago # -
It's Italy and Spain all over again, but even more stupid as it was reported people were doing these things and spreading the virus, leading to total lockdown. Selfish, stupid people.
We are heading for lockdown within a week I reckon. Caused by idiots fleeing COVID-19 hotspots for rural areas.
Should I even bother planting up my allotment if I'll be unable to get to it for three months plus under lockdown?

“Should I even bother planting up my allotment if I'll be unable to get to it for three months plus under lockdown?”
Yes
IF any sort of lockdown, I presume self-certified ‘good reason’ exceptions.
Food growing would qualify.

How many days until significant numbers of people appear in public with masks?
Posted 5 years ago # -
“if he could re-locate here from London as that is high risk area.”
Only if he brought 14 days (min) of provisions and stayed in.

@RhysMccoleNo. You can go out.
Exercise is good. Social distancing is the advice.

you were absolutely right. you're high risk, and frankly you're likely to be hospitalised for respiratory aid if/when you contract it.

Our elderly neighbour left the most beautiful home made chocolate cake on our coal bunker this afternoon. Thank you Ingrid, you’re a star.

Ten days ago on 11 March, with 456 confirmed UK cases, I made the prediction below (linked tweet).
As at 9am today there were 5,018 confirmed positive tests in the UK.
For those that care about the detail, my modelled forecast was 5,049 cases. The forecast was 99.4% accurate.
Prediction of 25,000 cases this time next week.

I just called a guy I know who lives in Edinburgh and he was in a camper van at the Glencoe ski centre. Said the snow was exceptional. I think his behaviour may well be exceptionally reckless.

Numbers are identical to Italy 14 days ago. Will be total lock down soon. No lessons learnt from Italy. My pal who sits next to me in the office is Italian and furious about the staged musical tambourine concerts whilst her sister works as medic with the dying. I saw today we had orchestra in the street
What conclusion can be drawn? Well i was called Pol Pot in a previous life but despite massively obvious data on deaths in Italy the rest of the world has gone to the beach whereas China and related nations imposed martial law.
This has been interpreted as Totalitarianism but in fact would appear to be about a better understanding of how stupid people are?

Just like the Australian fire fighters we can't expect our NHS to control this with no equipment.
Excellent letter hear pointing out the failures. A pandemic of this sort more likely than nuclear war.
"Why are we able to stockpile nukes but not medical supplies?"
