South Africa to be in lockdown for 21 days from Thursday. Social isolation of course a luxury for the better off minority. The state will enforce - civil unrest much more likely than Italy (or many other states that have had CV-19).

Nursery closed so tired to manage child while wfh today. Think it was reasonably successful, managed to keep her screen time in single figures (hours).

@weefoldingbike for now, at least, some garden centres will deliver. New Hopetoun are waiving the delivery fee.

    @morningsider

I see that it is from Volume 43 of a 55 Volume series, some 22,276 pages long! Hats off to the translators and editors - what a job.

Well, he didn't have CCE to spend his spare time on. Assume the translators were similarly deprived.

Lock down, but "cycling alone or in small family groups" allowed. Yippee!

    1 exercise a day

One of my dogs is happier than the other.

I was going to take one child out for a run early tomorrow at our speed then the small one later on at a lower speed. Might have to combine that trip and fix the secondhand turbo trainer up for my wife, or take it in turns to skip in the garden.

“Can live with one run a day.”

Better switch off Strava if you can’t count...

    “1 exercise a day”

Presumably on the basis of fewer people being out at the same time?

1 long walk/run/ride same as 2 short ones.

Key thing is to keep away from people.

Andrea Catherwood’s advert (PH announcement) advises against going to pubs.

Might be a good idea to do a new one.

Surely not - driving to the supermarket isn't a social outing, so why getting groceries would be exercise... I am a bit worried that not having a car is quickly going to be seen as very antisocial and move into the category of not just "a bit odd / poor" but "SOCIAL MISFIT WHO RISKS OTHERS".

In other news, I'm pretty damn anxious. Three weeks of no family, no friends. Could be much, much longer. Somehow that would be easier in a cottage up a backroad on an island. Something about expectations...

Can't see how they hope to enforce this, the govt have run down the police and military to the point where dodging patrols shouldn't be to hard.

Shopping for essentials? Does getting your cycle repaired come under that?

I wondered. I need new rims on two Brompton front wheels and this would be an ideal time to drop them off at Wheelcraft. I'll not be using them much.

We may end up as the HQ of bike repair black market here. I did have a new cassette, chain and wheel installed and the derailleur needs a slight adjustment.

@Harts was staying open - on twitter.
@Bicycle Works in closing down mode for period.
Any business defying this can be made to close?

Car users will need to have repair shops open surely? For remote communities keeping a car on road essential.
Was thinking about fuel rationing. Be good move and also boost sales of EVs!
