thanks baldcyclist-san, that link confirms it for me, we started showing symptoms march 5th

if i've not said it before -

this is not a viral infection, it is akin to high altitude sickness

your blood oxygen levels will plummet without any lung damage

you may be at risk of blood clots across multiple organs

EVERYONE make sure you have an oxygen saturation monitor in the house and take frequent readings when compromised

anything under 95 is very poor, but if this gets anywhere near 90 and stays there, consider hospital assistance immediately

    das ist alles

The cartoon on this is so mad.

The right hand side should a mass grave dug on a football pitch. And Mr Johnston should be in the boot of the car with a new girlfriend and his snuff box. And Ms Sturgeon should be cautiously and pragmatically wondering if she should get into the boot of her car too.

I love that the 'Scottish' side of the hedge has brick-built houses and a Norman-pattern church. The artist is actually trying to invoke the notion of different leadership for England and having to use Scotland as an allegory.

Three weeks from now the second wave.

Avoid using public transport, suggests our prime minister: but that is rather easier for high earners, almost all of whom have access to a car, compared to the poorest, over half of whom do not. The children of the well-to-do can not only frolic in suburban gardens, but can now enjoy car journeys to the Peak District and the Broads; many of the urban poor, crammed into tower blocks and overcrowded council estates, do not have that option.

Anyone who needs to take public transport should wear face masks, keep their distance from fellow travellers and avoid rush hour if possible, the Department for Transport (DfT) said.

But the DfT conceded that “there will be times and some settings on public transport where social distancing is not possible”.

Sell all seats, wear masks, quarantine a waste of time and everyone will ignore it...

    ‘Led by science’...

The minister also clarified it was possible to see one parent and then another outdoors “10 minutes apart” but that giving people social hugs would only be possible after a treatment or vaccine would be found, which at the earliest could be in the autumn.

    @chdot: matt-hancock-tries-to-clear-up-confusion-over-coronavirus-advice

Am I alone in despairing at a Government which appears to be unable to communicate clearly and effectively? It's two days now since BJ said what he said and they're still having to wheel out ministers to try to explain what it actually meant?

So much for the idea that being taught Latin (which BJ is oh so fond of spouting) enhances one's language skills.

I find it doubly annoying because, up until I retired, a key part of my job was creating written communications for the benefit people needing to use complicated things (specifically, computer systems). Clarity and conciseness - with clarity taking priority - were my perpetual goals. If I'd have come up with some of the incomprehensible waffle that dribbles forth from these highly paid servants of the populace on a regular basis I would have regarded it as entirely reasonable for my employer to dock my wages.

“some of the incomprehensible waffle that dribbles forth from these highly paid servants of the populace”

    But that’s the thing.

How much of the contentious stuff originated with politicians/close advisors?

Might be the case that experienced CSs were unwilling/unable to persuade PM/Ministers(?)

Also in North Yorkshire: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/06/self-isolate-mystery-dalek-orders-humans-in-the-age-of-coronavirus (seems to pre-date the Sedgley one by a few days - and it's black dalek, which were always the more scary ones.)

    From link -

Anuja Sonalker, the CEO of Steer Tech, a Maryland-based company selling self-parking technology, recently summed up the new virus-personalised pitch. “There has been a distinct warming up to humanless, contactless technology,” she said. “Humans are biohazards, machines are not.”

    Ok...

No idea where this came from:
"Be alert - your country needs lerts.
Be aloof - your country has enough lerts."

My mother and I were quoting it at one another so it must be Old.

I would not rule out the chance to conserve a nucleus of human specimens.

Yeah, computer systems are never affected by viruses, ever. Or hacking, or malware, or plain old bad programming.

Noticed quite a few builders at work today. BoJo saying they need to get back to work without specifying England only probably doesn't help.

Although I would quite like the tram works to get back up and running.

Many of the new emerging hotspots, both rural and urban, are in states where governors refused to issue stay-at-home orders, or are following Trump’s advice to relax lockdown restrictions despite public health warnings about the dangers of doing so too soon.
