I've managed 68 twice in the last week. I seem to get distracted about that point when my mind wanders. Last week I was pretty puffed out but this week I seem to have improved my technique and could hold a conversation afterwards.

    @acsimpason, excellent work,

I have had to skip in the other direction due to prevailing wind now being easterly and get to 30s quite comfy but then due to long shore drift (specific skipping term I have made up by borrowing from Spurn Point) the skipping rope snags in the washing line.

OK I will skip at lunchtime. Three warm-up attempts and then I go for it.

How any skips will I get? Vote now.

what i'm finding is its best not to stop in dismay when you break the rope

resume count to zero then just start again, start again

    so that would be 27,15,32

    etc

Do you all hop from foot to foot or double bounce?

    @bax that is right

    3, 6, 9 the goose drank wine
The line broke the monkey got choked
They all went to heaven in a little row boat

I know an NHS Doc who correctly guessed the number of beans in the bag from the Kinross roasters. HE WON HALF THE BAG OF BEANS (1729/2) they arrived the day he was down to instant coffee which I never thought I would hear about. He tries to deny the apple pie as he decries their coffee which is all lies. [he still goes though]

    IWRATS will snag on 42

I can do 20 IWRATS jumping with both feet which is something i do quite quickly at end of a session. Wingpig is the stylist

I go left right for the big numbers

@iwrats Whatever works, same as breathing patterns when running. Depends if you need both feet to be even at the end, or for one to have done more than the other. I find counting in batches of eight usually easier than sticking to tens.

Oh man that is a whole thread right there. I have more theories than evidence, yet am never invited on breakfast television?

OK so settled on a bizarre back to front rocking technique. Right foot back, left foot forwards. More energy than the double-footer but more rhythmical.

Thirteen on warm-up one. Then forty one. Then thirty something.

    Eighty five under exam conditions.

The first two I was trying to avoid the rope hitting the ground, the last one I went back to my trusted knees and feet locked together and working as a single spring while the rope hits the ground for an audible rhythm.

@acsimpson, heartbreakingly close to the century. Great effort

@bax - rope comes over you lift your right foot, rope continues you lift your left./ Or other way if you lead with your left (southpaw that is called)

Is it not goofy/regular, when speaking of the feet and legs, like skate or snow-boarding?

I think this was 256 but I lost count whilst looking at possible paths for new washing lines.

@gembo I missed out on a round number but but in all ways Winpig's round number is vastly superior to mine.

@acsimpson turns out @wingpig was all Lincolnshire school skipping champion in 1990 and again in 92, 93 and 94. The boys mocked him but the girls loved him. You can see his logic quite transparent really.

I just got @acsimpson's post. Thought it was a reference to some date in the late nineties. Thought @gembo had gone madder.

Going for the ton at luchtime. There. I've said it.

    Skipping ropes arrived yesterday.

    This morning I managed a 2, 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, a 14 and a 15, and a pulled calf muscle.

Fit in my 40s: 10-year-old girls love it, but will skipping work for me?

I e decided my 'pulled' Calf muscle is just down to lack of use, so skipped through the pain.

I have quite a bad leg imbalance after an injury last May, with left leg being strong and right really weak.

I'd been trying to fix that doing daft unbalanced cycling pushing more on weak leg, was just really uncomfortable.

Turns out doing kettlebell squats and skipping seems to naturally work those muscles equally.

    24 best today.

Does a good job of getting the heart going to after 50 or so cumulative skips.

So the Grauniad has leapt onto the lockdown skipping bandwagon

But we were there when it all started

I know some local news outlets have been suspected of following CCE in the past but is this evidence of wider reach?

24, 34, and 32, and then that right calf muscle gave in again
