Alpine Bikes in Stockbridge seems to have closed which is a shame. There's a sign saying a new store is open on Commercial Street but not sure if that's just part of the Tiso.

Bike Trax now at canal basin in case not covered elsewhere.
Saw this in latest Edinburgh Reporter- 45 years of Edinburgh Bike Coop. Bought a few bikes from them over the years, sure others have too.

45 years, wow. Have had a few bikes out of there over the years. A good 25 years since the first one I bought - I believe IWRATS' wife is still making use of the fork off that one. Used to live just across the links in Leamington Terrace, spent a fair bit of my pennies in there over the years. Not so much since moving to the Borders.

Mrs LB's first decent bike was an Edinburgh Continental (531 frame & forks) retrofitted with straight bars. Much disapproved of back in 1985! Later on she got a Cadence with wider 26" Specialized Nimbus tyres and more gears. Daughter got at least two bikes and helmets etc.

As a family I reckon we have bought at least six bikes from EBC over the years. Used to love flicking through the catalogues as a lad, imagining that I could afford the delights within.
Think it is a real shame they discontinued their own brand bikes, which were always stonking value for money.
Still my go-to place for tubes, tools etc. Hadn't been in for a while until a few weeks ago and I was quite surprised at how limited the range seemed - certainly compared with what I remember.
Customer service has always been reliably inconsistent. I have variously been ignored, talked down to, wisely advised and also treated like a king (surely coincidence that I was wearing Rapha gear and a top of the line helmet that time).
I wonder whatever happened to that Chris Hill chap.

It's certainly a change from the peculiar hipster barbers/tattoo parlour/nightclub business that was there before.
Have yet to go in but will doubtless be found rummaging in their parts bin at some point!

Mr Hart came by to look at LB's enhanced presence on St Peter's Place - featuring a see through window!
He imparted news of a new bike shop sighting on Constitution Street.

Can’t believe @wingpig actually witnessed Lapbikes open for business. Such sightings are like visiting Brigadoon. I think they might now be the sole Bianchi dealer in Edinburgh now

Perhaps they could start a campaign for segregated cycle lanes on Morningside Rd? Instead of useless and expensive ones on Braid Avenue to enable more rat-running there?

Whilst having my few remaining hairs trimmed by Mr Sweary Jim himself last week, I noticed that this bike shop seemed to have disappeared already.
Maybe a money laundering scam like the here-today-gone-tomorrow 'American Candy Store' places?

I went in shortly after it opened.
Seems they were having various problems- including no electricity!
Seemed optimistic that they (2 guys) could make a go of a business based around the idea of retro bikes.
Maybe they will pop up somewhere else.

Sweary Jim was magnificent today. Great haircut and bantz. Alas he distracted me from asking about throat punch coffee shop. Side hustle bike shop by reco7nt8ng his stories of Gordon Smith The Psychic Barber.
Sweary Jim’s brother, who is hairdresser to the stars. Anne Robinson, Alanis Morrisete, flown to America to hair dress etc is a member of a spiritualist church in London and Jim attended a service with his wife. Jim then accompanied Gordo. To Tesco after the gig to get cigarettes. Gordon was apparently half cut and chatting up the security guard. Anyway Mrs Sweary Jim then asked the Psychic Barber Would you go on Most Haunted? Gördo was very scathing and said he never would which wasn’t very psychic as now he presents it,
