    Just in case anyone's wondering:

Almost all houses on Lanark Road have a driveway.

100+ parking bays are included in the proposals, for those who don't have driveways.

An estimate from Google Streetview suggests there's normally about 50 cars parked on Lanark Road. Maybe it's more than that at the moment, but 100 should definitely cover it, with enough space for deliveries/loading etc.

Journey times on Comiston Road have remained pretty consistent since July - despite a very similar scheme implemented in early September.

@frenchy these are just facts what I need is to park where I like and drive where I like. Thanks.. so I will dispute and demand consultation thank you very much.

I have already tried to explain to currie Community Council That this is all about parking outside on the road instead of in the drive but not sure they get it as they are busy disputing Facts and asking for more consultations

I think this is my favourite comment so far on that petition:

This will impact on my ability to play golf at Kingsknowe golf club when car park is full

@stickman, at least they are honest in what their objections are.

Never really checked the size of the car park maybe it is smaller than the dwindling number of golfers? However plenty parking nearby just not right at the corner so a slightly longer walk if it is true.

One of my closest ever near misses was at that corner. Quite hard for car drivers to get out but really they shouldn’t drive straight at cyclists who have right of way. It is possible they are more careful now as I was quite annoyed with them.

@gembo: they are about to walk for 4 hours lugging a bag of golf clubs. The extra 100 yard walk to a parking space is way too much to ask.

@stickman all caddy cars now but agree the short walk is a minor inconvenience

B7t at least he/she stated the6 were objecting because they are n9t being allowed to drive exactly where they like on medal Sunday’s once a year etc feckin golfers I say Bondage Up Yours

Oh no, parking availability on Lanark Road is being slightly reduced.

Where will people park if all 57 spaces in the golf club's car parks are full? If only there were some other road nearby.

Mr French, whilst that street is a factual accuracy it is yards from the first tea, maybe not even a wedge, possibly a 9 iron. How can they walk there in their spikes?

Watched a guy whack one of the wands out of its socket on Old Dalkeith Road today. Just for a laugh.

    He was on a bicycle.

The advocate compares the more subtle measures such as placing cones along roads to extend pathways on George IV bridge as what could be considered a more appropriate move.

Is that the same George IV Bridge that has a junction with Victoria St which is closed to most motor vehicles at the moment?

Local activists raised thousands of pounds to seek legal counsel from an advocate who wishes to remain anonymous.

Not surprised, might be slightly embarrassed about money for not a lot.

That is some photo, seems to be half a head missing.

@Dave - I wouldn't waste your time on a counter petition. In my experience it is better to approach individual politicians personally. A quick email should do, setting out why you support LTNs. Once a politician gets a few of these messages from actual residents, which should not be based on any kind of template - which just screams organised campaign, then they know that people do care about the issue.

Everyone is aware how easy it is to establish a petition and gather signatures from all over - many of which may be fake. I'm not saying they have no influence, but they are nowhere near as effective as people like to think. Look at the "herd immunity" Great Barrington petition - undermined by being signed by such luminaries as Dr Cominic Dummings, apparently an expert in eye care.

EDIT: Ha Ha! A legal opinion from someone unwilling to be named. I have heard it all now.

He is standing in the road to demand that standing in the road should be impossible? We should oblige - route every single Edinburgh journey through this first high traffic neighbourhood.

The first houses at the new Cammo development will be occupied early next year. Let’s see how opposed they are to LTNs once their new neighbours move in.

I have two Twitter accounts, for example, though I only really use my "anonymous" one.

I think they might have changed the rules recently. Last time I tried to set up another account, it asked for a phone number to validate the account and wouldn't accept my current number as that was already in use on my existing account.

Perhaps there is a way round it, but I couldn't find it
