I'm currently adjusting it for a camp at Linn Jaw. Everything is more fun with a bivvy half way.

@steveo - Linn Jaw is that near the waterfall on Linn water?
Posted 4 years ago # -
Yeah, been meaning to have camp there
Posted 4 years ago # -
Based loosely on the rapha tour but starts and finishes at Slateford rather than messing around in town. Having said that maybe it would be better with a beach bivvy instead of only the first 3rd.

@steveo
I'm in. Glengarioch for fuel, aye?

Do you get a map/ checkpoints? Nevermind there's a Komoot link: https://www.komoot.com/tour/268993569
Not sure if they checked it out before, but the road up past Bangour was closed a few days ago when I passed it.

Given the weather forecast and not being overly familiar with much of the route I'm going to wimp out.
Good luck to any brave souls (either on the forum or outwith) attempting the route this weekend!

I alerted the cafe at Clubbiedean, tomorrow will be nice, maybe even this afternoon,
They say if you spot anyone going up the Torduff road on an electric Bike with a trailer containing an urn of soup then they have been busy
The actual people saying they are going on the Rapha pate would not suggest extra soup

Which sort of soup would appear the most compelling when filmed in high-contrast black-and-white?

Chunky vulcanised rubber and cotton wool is a winter favourite in our house.

As with all Rapha photo shoots the vessel is more important than what is inside. Clubbiedean soup carton is Rapha approved cardboard

Must say the weather was far better than forecast. Decided to try and find the Gamma shop and sample their coffee. Ride almost ended up ending before it started however as my front tyre exploded after pumping it up a bit! Then I managed to pinch my spare inner tube with a tyre lever. By this point I’d pretty much given up so made the walk of shame to my LBS to have them fit it.
Finally I was out on the bike. Decided to tackle Faside Castle on the return leg and ended up coming up against an oncoming Qashqai right at the steepest point. 2 stops later I managed to finally spin my way up. I reckon I’ve been overdoing it on the bike and at the gym so had nothing in my legs. All in all though a good ride today and probably a good thing I didn’t tackle the full course. Maybe next year!Posted 4 years ago # -
They are back at it. In June 2021 there is a five day self supported gravel ride from Edinburgh to Manchester.
Departs 15th June.
They do have a little Citroen Coffee Van that might get up to Edinburgh (presume should be driven inside a lorry)
Then in July they are proposing another compass ride around Edinburgh. They post the 4 points you work out the route.
Did cheer myself up reading the reviews of their most pointless product The Summer Embrocation. . I am not even on thin ice I cannot imagine anyone on CCE would be in favour. Basically like wintergreen but without the active ingredient. One reviewer Alexander Mack said this does nothing for my legs except attract dirt. Seems to be a bronzer and makes your legs smell nice but with no added heat. In summer with cool morning starts do you
A. Faff with leg warmers
2.apply Rapha summer embrocation
Iii. Cycle for a bit until you warm up
Z. Wear those three quarter shorts (I did buy a pair in a sale once)
q. Sweat all day as you picked biblongs in errorNear the start of CCE did we have an analysis of a spat about chamois cream? This also cheered me as it seemed a Swiss fellow had been using a menthol version of Vaseline but had applied it just round the corner from where it is supposed to go causing him to have quite a significant burning sensation in a most sensitive area,

I haven't made the biblongs error in summer, however I did make that mistake yesterday morning. After a mile or so it became clear I was very over dressed for such glorious weather.

Rapha are teaming up with Gamma Transport Division again in April for the Hell of the North. They are also pairing with Flahute coffee which is based in Milton of Balgonie near Glenrothes and a kiosk in Inverkiething Train Station

“in April“
Really?

So Rapha say, would be normal time to run Paris Roubaix but that might not go ahead you reckon.? Rapha will probably post a route for individuals to follow.
This is what they tried with the urban peaks. But was blowing a hoolie that weekend and no one did it.

It is this route again this weekend
Coming up the WoL path this time, then the reservoirs.
Down Leyden hill to selm Muir then up hall , seems to go on a71 a wee bit then up over Cairnpapple and down to crammond.
Of note Farr Out will be out and about on their bicycles with supplies
