Every day is a school day and today was no exception.

Following a series of punctures out Tinto Hill way today My pal Tom realised his rimtape was now the cause of said p-words.

I did not know it could slip. And indeed during several botched attempts to re-instate the protection for the tubes (from the spokes) the rim tape had frayed a little. Old tubes were used. To no avail as could not get the tyre back on.

During the delay I offered out my Fruitellas. OUr other pal Trevor then had the brain wave of using slivers of mashed up Fruitella as a sort of glue to stick the rim tape back to the rim. Genius. Lasted 25 miles back to Balerno.

I would have used blood but this is a decent substitute.

Did see a dead deer that had leached blood onto the road that had turned rancid and black if that helps?

I'm not sure it does but it's the thought that counts.

That’s a great story :) Imagine the mess if it had been a Wham bar.

As well as being better than real fruit (which just isn’t chewy enough) Fruitellas just about sticky enough with a little manipulation. Quothquan was treated to me singing those new words Real fruit just isn’t sticky enough.

Wham bars i think too hard to manipulate?

Some cyclists were offering help but seemed to ignore my request Have you got any masking tape.?

Yes, I was thinking you’d have to chew the wham bar first.
