The Scottish Tories have proposed a fully integrated transport system with an Oyster card-like payment for travel, a three-lane M8 and faster rail links between Edinburgh and Glasgow – as well as quicker journey times from Edinburgh to Aberdeen and Inverness.

3 out of 4 ain’t bad - can’t see any faster E-G train times than already planned.

But will he say if the payment is coming from the UK Money Forest or a Scottish one when he speaks tomorrow?

This is the Britain Bonus unlocked by Brexit. A motorway on stilts linking high mountain tunnels to join Glasgow in a straight line to Inverness.

All we have to do is vote for the regime's regional sales manager and the Bonus is ours. A tunnel under the Pentlands! Personal hovercraft! Children with jet packs. Transporter beams. Shuttle craft.

    Warp drive.

Douglas will fold space with his mind like the Guild Navigators in Dune.

What is the carrying capacity of a Sandworm?

Sandworms are individual vehicles if I remember correctly. Suspect only the Laigh O'Moray suited to that transport mode.

Only by choice, put in sufficient infrastructure and charges for single occupant and you'll soon make a modal change.

I'm a sandwormer myself but they should all be wearing hivz and following the Highway code.

@IWRATS typical anti-sandworm propaganda. While the initial capture is by an individual, they can be controlled well enough to allow many passengers to board.

    From their press release:

“A town centre rescue plan. We need immediate measures to support our town centres with planning restrictions freed up and a new town centre adaptation fund.”

That means free parking doesn’t it?

    Free parking

    Free schools

    Free university tuition

    Free public transport

Oh well, can’t have everything for free

How about 1/2 price parking (Mon to Wed) with LAs getting the full fee??

We can't know what Mr Ross mean by this stuff because he doesn't know.

His managers will tell him if he's ever in a position to do anything, but the chances are they'll just bulldoze Scottish institutions. There's nothing to stop them now.

Apparently this will deliver “a fairer, greener and more prosperous Scotland for everyone".

    Sounds great! Hold on though...

    "a three-lane M8"

Is this fairer? Greener? In which ways?

"...improve travel for tourists and protect local roads in rural Scotland outside the central belt."

How do you simultaneously improve travel for tourists and protect local roads? Does he mean it will be compulsory to for tourists to ride bicycles outside the central belt? Or take public transport only?

“We need to take power back from the government in Edinburgh "

Why do "we" need to do that? Which "we" is he talking about? Does he mean us? Or them?

@Rob, "While the initial capture is by an individual, they can be controlled well enough to allow many passengers to board."

    Indeed. As ably demonstrated here:

He’s not had a great day:

    https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/news/politics/scottish-politics/2452693/douglas-ross-urged-to-apologise-for-food-safety-remarks-that-left-farmers-fuming

National Farmers Union of Scotland (NFUS) policy director Jonnie Hall said he was “fuming” after the Scottish Conservative leader quoted him to defend his stance on food standards.

The row erupted after Mr Ross claimed NFUS agreed with his assertion that no MPs had voted in favour of lowering the UK’s food quality standards.

Interviewed on BBC Scotland, Mr Ross claimed Mr Hall had confirmed to him that no MP had “ever voted to reduce” animal welfare and biosecurity measures in the UK to back up his argument that action was being taken to ensure the safety of imported food.

But Mr Hall claimed Mr Ross had taken an answer he had given at the Scottish Affairs Committee back in June “out of context” and had neglected to mention the NFUS’s concerns about food safety.

Mr Hall told BBC Scotland Drivetime: “Douglas Ross asked a very straightforward… did I believe that MPs had voted to reduce standards in the UK? To which I replied ‘no’, because they hadn’t actually voted to reduce.
