Here's an insightful article from before the election that sheds some light on how Biden's foreign policy might work.

A big problem for Biden is that the State department has been gutted. So many career diplomats and experienced civil servants have left.

    Philadelphia police commissioner, Danielle Outlaw

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/nov/06/philadelphia-armed-men-arrested-vote-counting-convention-center

She did not have a good perception of the Oakland police during her childhood. In high school, Outlaw visited the Oakland Police Department as part of a career exploration program, where she had the opportunity to patrol with officers. This caused her to change her perception of the police, and find out that many of those in the police force were just like her.

@SRD, Biden also faces huge problems at home, not least the rampant pandemic which has affected the US badly, with a poor, uncoordinated response in a number of states.

On foreign policy, I see BBC News is already flagging up Biden's public statement that there will be no free trade deal for the UK if the Good Friday Agreement is not respected...

Will need military to escort trump out of the Whitehouse. Right wing media including Murdoch turning on him and telling him to lose better. He can’t.

@Gembo - I'd pay to see that! (although nevertheless a sad indictment of how low things had/have sunk to).

My favourite meme of the campaign was a long shot of a nursery with a large ginger headed Brillo pad style hairdo bouncing on a space hopper. Big man, big overcoat.

The teachers come in and say time to go home Donald, I don’t wanna go home, bad tempered bouncing ensues.

Sadly this is now the reality

If I understand correctly Mr Biden wouldn't pass vetting to be a UKIP council candidate. Too right wing and too corruptible.

    Still. Could have been worse.

The London regime is in real trouble now.

Fox News were last to announce Biden/Harris. Quelle surprise.

Feels like a time of hope mixed in with the fear of 'alternative truth' militia taking action.

Trump was a dead end admin. No younger 'talent' of note and a hostility towards experts and co-operative working.

The mooch on a Canadian political satire show saying Trump is too chicken to be marched out by the secret service. Figures he’ll sneak out in the night. Sounds about right to me,

Americans seem to be sore losers. Clinton was elup till 2 weeks ago still claiming that the last election was stolen from her, and now we have Trump doing the same.

Can they not just concede gracefully?

I have spent far too much time recently reading legal twitter as they eviscerate the cases and judgements. fascinating and bizarre stuff.

Bizarre indeed. Trump goes on about fraud outside court but not inside

President phoned into Fox News to blame the courts for his campaign’s so far unsuccessful legal challenges

You would reckon someone who was a general would know every US soldier swears an oath to uphold the US constitution, which I gather is rather down on people acting like absolute monarchs (which in this case is also acting as a stand-in euphemism).
