    Spokes are having a public meeting (online, of course), on the topic of the future of Spaces for People projects.

    Cllr Lesley Macinnes (Edinburgh council transport convener) and Phil Noble (Head of the council's active travel team) will be speaking, along with Jocelyn Dellar (Spokes Porty), Claire Connachan (Low Traffic Corstorphine) and Ewen Maclean (Blackford Safe Routes).

    A Q&A will be chaired by Dr Caroline Brown.

    At least two of these people are of this parish, as well.

    @Frenchy, presumably this platform eliminates the risk of the meeting being disrupted (as with the recent University case etc)? Looks like a very sensible decision to me...

    @NiallA

    """
    We are using GoWebinar software (kindly supplied and operated by Cycling UK Scotland). Your own microphone and video are automatically muted, and there is no chat function.
    """

    As a consequence the gammon can scream into their own personal void all they want, without disturbing anyone else.

    To answer my own question of how does a Q&A work without a chat function:

    Questions can be submitted in advance by emailing spokes@spokes.org.uk with subject line SfP meeting question. You can also submit questions during the meeting, using the questions box in the webinar’s Control Panel.

    Will it be recorded? I'd planned to attend but apparently shopping needs to be done...

    It was a good meeting.

    I don’t think there is any doubt that Lesley McInnes is totally committed to making the city a better place for people walking and wheeling. She’s fighting huge institutional inertia, a general resistance to change and some extremely nasty personal abuse, so while she might make individual mistakes and the delivery can always be improved she deserves our support.

    Thanks also to @algo, @claire and Jocelyn Dellar for giving some actual positive real-life experience of the benefits that these schemes are bringing to people.

    Yes, completely agree, @Stickman. I had been quite impressed with LM's commitment when I saw her speak at an event a couple of years ago - I'm a little bit in awe now...
