Lunchtime commute round Clubbiedean and descending down to Bonaly, came across 15 people, each with their own Yama (correct Peruvian Spanish). My bell sonorous though it may be spooked one Llama.

Llama therapist said to me - I don’t know how you will get past. I said carefully.

    Then added Nice Yama

    They said Alpaca

@gembo, luckily Sir Kieth not around - he'd have murdered all those poor alpacas in cold blood. I recall seeing the beasties in a field next to Bonaly Scout Centre a few times, very cute.

ll also sounded Y in quesadilla, bocadillo.
We stopped at the Great Polish Map of Scotland in the way home on Friday and noticed one of the vicuña/alpaca/guanaco/llama in a field at th bottom of the hotel's drive which I meant to look up later to determine which it had been.

IIRC there are (or used to be) some llamas/alpacas up by the Bathgate Alps near Beecraigs. There used to be a deer farm too, you could buy (frozen) venison sausages from the visitor centre, stow them in saddle bag and they'd be nearly thawed by the time you got home, ready to cook. However visitor centre shut down and last visit only ices on offer from cafe/restaurant at Beecraigs, no venison. Not sure if deer are still around?

Lot of llamas in south Lanarkshire for some reason.

The Lymphoy llamas are away as their field is being built on

I made up llama therapy but of course it is a thing. Linked to llama trekking whereby you take a llama for a walk.

I feel I need a bike expedition to the Bathgate Alps soon to check if the llamas/alpacas are still there.

Yeah I came across the tour just at the steepest bit before cubbidean, I really should have stopped but the legs had all the blood so I kind of wound my way through the crowd smiling and laughing (whilst trying not to fall off)

There are some close shorn (except heads) llamas at Alterstone farm between Stobo and Dreva. Very cute and always cheers the mood while climbing away from the Tweed.

There's a variation in the pronouciation of ll through the spanish speaking world.

"llama" can mean a number of things depending on context.

    - A conjugation of the verb "to call" (llamar)
    - flame - either combustion or ardour
    - a camelid (origin of name is apparently Quechuan - the original people)

    Also:
    - adj. Dressing as a fifties throw-back.

Friends in deepest south Wales with a big house and lots of land have a bunch of llamas.

Mostly though I think of Revenge of the Mutant Camels.

For some reason I can't think of llamas without referring to this.

In the days I went to the office, there were plenty grazing in grounds of Dundas Castle.

@crow, Big Night Out - Vic I’ve fallen. big Night out 2 - Tiubby Brewster, do Google Tubby.

In between Smell of Reeves and Mortimer, less good? And certainly the Larry Hagman episode and tWendy Richards answering Grot would be two favourite Shooting Stars episodes. Also often used to get into trouble in the work environment by singing in the club style and asking colleagues to guess the song.
