I was walking from West Maitland Street to Dalry Road the other day when I remembered that there was supposed to be a plan to put a southbound only one-way section at the south end of Grosvenor Street, with a contraflow cycle lane. The last reference I can find to this is in this thread, which seems to have been shut down about two years ago.

It seemed like a very good idea at the time, when I used to go that way on a more or less daily basis. I was disappointed to see that nothing has happened since then; it seemed such an obvious and fairly straightforward thing to do. Did it get put on the back burner when SARS-CoV-2 struck and might yet go ahead (omicron permitting)? If so, does anyone know when? (If the answer is "after CCWEL" then personally I would take that to mean something akin to "when hell freezes over".)

Most of the Tram Cycle Safety parts, including this, should be starting in Spring/Summer 2022. The Haymarket island and Haymarket Yards are now part of CCWEL so who knows about them…

Although worth noting it’s been value engineered somewhat to just be signs and a splitter island. You can see it on the very last page here: http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/ccwel/downloads/file/20/section-1-general-arrangements?fileID=20
