Anyone know how passable the tracks through Devilla Forest (e.g., here) are on a road bike (28C tyres)?
Don't mind going slowly, but don't want to get punctures.

Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.

A game of two halves - the paths in the south and towards Tulliallan are pretty good, standard fireroad. In the north, I remember them as unconsolidated large aggregate which was a PITA even on 35mm tyres
As Murun says the paths are a bit mixed. You'll be OK on 28mm road tyres though if you approach it cautiously plan ahead and have reasonable handling skills.
I'm assuming you're going there to grab some Veloviewer squares and join Fife to the Lothians (I can't think of any other reason to ask this specific question). If so then come in from the North and you can ride the rougher tracks downhill. You end up coming out through the police college grounds, which was fine in 2019 so hopefully still is.
I rode it on a CX bike with Gatorskins with with 25 on the front and 28 on the rear. Although it definitely was a PITA it was preferable in my mind to riding out there on more suitable tyres.
The greatest puncture risk would be from pinch flats on the larger "gravel" so I would recommend ensuring your tyres are at the higher end of your pressure range. I'd also recommend extreme care if you don't consider bike scratches an addition to your story.
Thanks both - went today and it was exactly as described.
Walked on a few short sections, particularly near the path junctions, where they seem to have put more gravel. Survived without punctures, as well.
