Was less rabid than I thought. I mean it had rabid moments about fast cyclists.
He had a researcher, a minder and a security guard. I was the third youngest person in the room. Pollution caused by the Murrayburn and bad toilet connections. Water of leith conservation trust played a blinder.
He wasn’t interested in planting more trees at Harperig as not in his constituency. Thid was the global warming issue we tried to raise. Gavin Corbett was there and sensible as ever
Many years ago I had a Chrome plugin that would replace the word "cyclists" with a randomly chosen minority group to underline how ridiculous some statements are. It's lost in the mists of time but I still think of it automatically if I have the misfortune to skim this kind of material, for e.g. if you replace "cyclists" with "immigrants", "black people", "Jews" or anything like that:

Sadly the bridge at the one hole golf course closed again from tomorrow. Diversion is Waulkmill Loan onto Lanark Road West and back down at Currie Kirk or Lymphoy Rd to the south which has way fewer cars
But more mud (and squirrels).

The Lanark Rd needs temporary protected cycle lanes for this long term diversion
Signs are up on the main road for sure. Went out for pleasant late afternoon stroll. There is no signage at the start of the WoL path in Balerno. I suppose the council can argue they don’t need to divert until Waulkmill Loan itself. Rather a steep if short hill but those who might struggle on the kicker could push up. Not sure where they will put the sign at t(e eastern end. Previously, this was not until you reached the closure so,you had to double back.
Currently there is a little bit of red fence and a red closure sign but space on either side. This might change.
There was a van but it had Prime painted on its side so was probably a delivery to the one hole golf course etc rather than an operative blocking entry to the bridge.
It seems Council maintenance budget not sufficient so the process is a member of the public phones in an issue and the bridge gets inspected and then closed for years before the repair can be made.
Heading west on the WoL path at Currie. The diversion is after the bridge at The Kirk. And directs you left towards Kirkbrae on the wee Path by the side of the old railway brick sheds which were meant to be an international design centre but turned into a house.. you then double back (I hope you don’t go up kirkbrae by mistake tho you could take first right and go lymphoy) . Signage is good and says half a mile on main road though you can still as of lunch time Fri 23rd Oct 2026 get around the barriers on the bridge discovered to be in need of repair.
