I inherited a 2017 Ridgeback electon from my Mum. I took it to the bike coop last year as it was having some issues with the transmission and asked them to service the hub.

They adjusted the wheel to tighten up the chain which they claimed solved the issues I was having (it didn't entirely but did help generally) and didn't touch the hub.

The hub seemed to slip yeterday and made a noise as I would expect to hear when your chain falls off the chainset, then on the way home it started to make clattery metal sounds.

Can anyone suggest a good LBS who have experience in dealing with internal gear hubs (the bike has a Nexus Di2 hub)? I'm in NW Edinburgh.

Notwithstanding the thread on Edinburgh Bike Shops, for hub gear servicing I would probably ask either the Cycle Service or The Bicycle Works.

Other shops are available of course and your mileage may vary, but I rarely visit EBC these days after poor customer service. Biketrax is becoming more of a shop than a workshop and less Brompton-orientated and perhaps hence less hub gear experienced.

Another vote for Cycle Service or The Bicycle Works. they're used to hub gears.

Interesting take above on Biketrax. We eventually concluded that they weren't particularly interested in servicing bikes that they hadn't sold.

I've had good service from BikeTrax on bikes they have not sold me, but it should be noted that I also own a Brompton that they did sell me...
