I have a vague recollection of there being speed-sensitive traffic lights on the approach to Carnwath from Biggar along the B7016 (not a route I take at all often - in fact, not at all since that occasion AFAIK). It might have been a trial rather than a permanent installation. Am I mistaken?

We're going to need you to go back and cycle through them at 40mph, just to be sure.

The hard part is stopping outside the apple pie having taken the lights at 40.

There is a little bit of space out the front but if other cars there then can be shunting.

We sometimes take the back road to avoid the meleee.

Fairly common in Spain on the entry to a town or village from a higher speed limit road. Sometimes repeated if it's a long straight stretch. Certainly helps to keep speeds down, especially if there's more than one.
