We’re gearing up for #InternationalWomensDay - going blooming mad in bloomers! All welcome on our ride that leaves Middle Meadow Walk at 7.30pm and ends at @The_Causey for some wonderful projections and celebrations. Dress up your bike with flowers and or wear bloomers

Perfect day for being mad after yesterday’s madness.

Did any CCEers go? I was busy mucking around with handlebars and things, and anyway it was too cold and too far there and back.

My better half was going to go with a friend but neither went. Not sure how much was despair at TEC

@urchaidh was there with his daughter, looking quite like Harry Tuttle from Brazil.

In the last weeks I've been wondering about 'retiring' from cycle campaigning. It's so much effort for so little on-the-ground progress never mind the heartbreak of seeing good safe schemes being voted out. And then along comes the joy and camaraderie of the InfraSisters

That's good to read. I marvel at the people who can keep going and where they get their energy from!

I came to the city as a teen and already most of my life is in the rearview mirror. I was sitting with 600 page committee papers (with a foregone conclusion) and just suddenly imagined being on my deathbed and how unhappy I'd be at spending another moment on it.. and that was that. (Of course I'm hoping everybody else keeps going I guess!)

PoP and Infrasisters and Bike Buses and every single other group gathering-not-a-protest are necessary because people aren't able or aren't minded to ride alone. There is a fine line between needing to ride as part of a group and wanting to ride as part of a group (because people who cycle - and people who motorbike - frequently contrive reasons to ride for the fun of it). When groups are the only safe way for people to cycle, the failing is on the local authority but the burden is outsourced to those organising and on those attending.

Kirsty of all people had, I thought, an inexhaustible supply of energy, but cycle campaigning is probably governed by the same mathematics as Brandolini's Law, but more fundamentally, the law of entropy is probably exactly why creating better conditions for preferable actions and activities is so much harder than creating the conditions for more widespread but less preferable actions.

As mentioned by the ever observant @Gembo, I went along with my daughter. Not sure about the Tuttle thing, but I'll happily accept it.

While not it's main goal, it was a wonderfully joyous and uplifting experience, a bit of an antidote to the previous day's going on. Noted that neither Scott Arthur nor Sanne Dijkstra-Downie, who both joined and shared being part of the last ride, showed face this time. Am sure this had nothing to do with the TEC vote.

We finished up at The Causey, where they were having a projection show to promote their (fantastic) ideas for regenerating the area - well worth a look if you're not familair.

    Phyllis did great report here:

We are so lucky to have this part of media tuned in to 're-imagining' the city. The actual paper Edinburgh Reporter is worth picking up. Available at Summerhall and other places.
