Back from a holiday at Lake Garda (northern Italy). Bikes absolutely everywhere! Clearly a big tourist hotspot for both roadies and MTBs. However, there were a huge number of utility e-bikes - clearly embraced by both locals for everyday trips and generally non-cyclist tourists as a fun means of getting about. I rented an MTB for a day and the shop I went to had a fleet of at least 150 e-bikes for hire.

Cycling infrastructure seems to be going through a speedy evolution, from older shonky shared use to pretty decent miles-long segregated lanes between villages.

Can't help but feel Scotland is being left behind.

Yes - stayed at the lovely Del Garda Village and Camping site. Hired my bike from VeloLake, who were very good.
