Clip in fail...

My first clip in drama for ages and ages this morning... joined Bridge Road Colinton from the old railway this morning and as I stepped off the junction into the standing traffic I did about one and a half pedal turns before braking to a halt behind a car... hadn't clipped in but out of habit twisted my heel out and lifted my left foot... which must have tucked the elastic from my bootees under/around the front of the spd cleat on the pedal...

    bu66er..

A very brief demonstration of my very limited trackstanding skills followed, further hampered by frantically yanking my left leg around before the decision was made that it was time for an embarrasing fall left :-/ at least it presumably gave mr impatient in the white van a laugh. Oh and in case she's on the forum, a big thanks and thumbs up to the lady going the other way who stopped to check I was ok :-)

Ahh well, no obvious damage apart from pride (sigh)

:-) This is why I stick with clippy pedals! Glad you are not (too) hurt.

As it's the first time for years that I've failed to unclip I don't feel too bad ;-) and I've failed to get out of toeclips too in the dim and distant so they are not without their probs either lol (and don't pop free in a crash either!)
Also in their defence it was elastic catching rather than anything else so not strictly a clip prob...
Lesson learned though, I'll watch for it in future :-))

So do I have to make Smudge a "sorry you forgot to clip in" card now?

If you make it "sorry your elastic was too grabby" it could cover a range of errors including those exhibited by other types of clothing.
