Does anyone know whats going on with the path between Edinburgh Park and Hermiston Gait?

There (was) a path that runs parallel to the station and provided step free access between the two places but when I swung by this morning it was well on the way to being a building site.

Had to go the long way round on the dodgy tarmac past the old RBS office.

    Is this no longer accurate?

No, the right jink at 100m ish has been dug up.

I did see something about the other gap site being converted to a music venue so it might be related to that but I currently looks pretty permanent.

ChrisFL suggested they were laying a HV cable, presumably for the announced arena project. I have found the orders to close the road but no plans mentioning the little bit of path. I presume pedestrian access was always to be via the station and wheel chair users can use the lift.

Bikes have to take a mile detour round South Gyle Cresent and Redheughs Ave, not nearly as busy as they were in the before time but still hardly safe infrastructure.

Ah cool, cheers. I'm a bit out of loop with this stuff these days. I only go that way on occasion. Even if they put a temporary ramp up the slope it would help with folk not able to carry their bikes.

South Gyle Road: Bridge between modal filter and Quiet Route 9

Went that way the other day, access has been retained by a narrow gap between the bridge wall and herras fences.

There's a running theme across the city about the provision of cycle access during utility / road works. The high points have been someone internal to Scottish water mandating a cycle-width access past sewer works on Rosebery Crescent to keep CCWEL intact — after pressure from Spokes — and the future George St redevelopment works mandating two-way cycle access along the street throughout (which is ambitious but it's baked into the continuing approval of the project). The low points are the ones like this that pop up with hee-haw in the way of even 'easy wins' to provide continued passage.

I'll pass that Quiet Route 9 bit on to Robbie, that's good to know. How narrow do you think?

wide enough for one person in each direction, passing a person whilst on the bike is possible though it such a short stretch its probably easier to just roll along at walking pace.

Yeah, you'd get a larger nonstandard bike down assuming you don't meet a particularly stubborn group of pedestrians.
