Came through about midnight from town to Porty, widespread large pieces of broken glass from the chicane over Duddingston rd west for some 200m.

  2. Interesting, no sign of that this morning - although I may have just had my eyes closed and when I come to leave tonight I'll have two flats...

Actually, there was a workman on that piece of land they've levelled beside the road there - it's conceivable that they cleared it up.

This is a constant problem with the Innocent. A friend returned from Manchester a couple of weeks ago and remarked on how bad it is here in Edinburgh compared with the cycle/footpaths there. Must be the drinking culture. I did ask if they ran as close to large housing estates as they do here and she thought the paths actually ran through even more built-up areas in Manchester. The cooncil say that they do clear the paths at least once a week!

Best thing to do is phone and report it straight away 529 3030 - give them the nearest lamppost number if you can. If everyone who goes past it reports it, they'll sort it very quickly.

    Thanks for that kirst!

I actually think there are some people deliberately trying to sabotage the cyclepaths. Ive even encountered bonfires built on the path in that area.

No it's definitely the smashing the empty buckfast bottle culture!

Its back, a very deliberate bike trap of crushed glass laid right across the path in a tight area, same place as before. recon its a saturday night amusement.

^^^seconded. Was a big two-meter wide patch all across the path, definitely deliberate. I tried to report it to the council but surprise surprise the number was closed on Sunday *eyeroll*. Is it cleared up yet or is it worth ringing them up tomorrow, assuming I don't need to work through lunch again?

Its cleared but not very well. looks more spread about, I spent a few minutes kicking away some more that was in the chicane.

I've emailed the street cleansing task force manager and let him know there's an ongoing problem. I don't know what can be done to prevent it - the council can't be throughout Bingham Park throughout every weekend. I suppose we just have to be vigilant and repetitive at reporting it. 529 3030

    Hi Kirsten

thanks for your e-mail. I have a mechanical sweeper on the walk way now. I will ensure this walk way is checked and cleansed weekly.

    Kind regards

I've emailed him back and asked if the weekly inspection could be done on Monday mornings to remove the weekend debris. Meanwhile, report it every time you find a problem.

Thanks Kirst. I've not been on the Innocent since last Wednesday but I'll keep an eye out for any more glass and call that number.

You could just set up an automatic email to Clarence reporting it for about 4PM on Friday so that it's on the top of their pile come Monday morning!

When I see broken glass on the Davison Mains cycle route in it seems its always Bright Green, making it easy to see!

Re making the inspection Monday mornings, he says they'll do their best to accommodate, which is lovely. I'm trying to find out who's in charge of the environmental wardens so I can ask them if they do weekend Bingham patrols.

Lots of glass on the Innocent once you get over the Duddingston Rd crossing - counted 8 different bottles (all Stella), moved what i could, but brush needed.

Then again at the foot of the tunnel, couple of bottles (brand unknown).

suspect 'the 8' came from large pile of bottles which have been fly-tipped about a month ago.

    hanging's too good for them.

Might be glass today. One cycle group acquired 3 different punctures after coming down through tunnel. Our group just one puncture. Didn't notice any glass, but it seems too much like a coincidence!

There was a splash of smashed glass near the top end yesterday evening as I rode out of town
