Former Scottish politician who went on to run NATO.
He's just popped up on Today (Radio 4 - iPlayer @ 2:41:40 interviewed by Sarah Montague) saying it didn't matter that most of the people on the board of the Decade of Action for Road Safety have motor industry backgrounds. (UK launch today by David Cameron with Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button...)
His/the plan seems to be to get more people wearing seatbelts/helmets - even though, as he said, most road deaths are pedestrians.
Asked if the aim should be to get people out of cars, he didn't actually say no - 'there will be more road building as part of the world development plan'.
