No driving in a bus lane - ever.
Always at fault in the event of a collision after pulling out / across / u-turning with no warning?

I thought transport was devolved? Therefore it would seem that most of this consultation only applies in England & Wales. Therefore it is not especially relevant to Edinburgh...

Councils can paint in bus/cycle lanes or parking bays or waiting bays. They can't have them being all 3 at once.

crowriver - public service vehicle operator and driver licensing, bus design and road traffic law are all dealt with by the UK parliament. In addition, bus services in Scotland currently operate under the provisions of the Transport Act 1985, as amended, which is UK legislation - although the Scottish Government could choose to go its own way and introduce an entirely new system of bus regulation in Scotland. This is very, very unlikely given that Brian Souter (Stagecoach boss) is a major SNP contributers and that First Group is headquartered in Aberdeen - an SNP stronghold.

Bus services need more, rather than less, regulation in my opinion. Remember, not everywhere has a Lothian Buses - the only publicly owned bus operator in the country.
