    Edinburgh v Hull - 10th July 2011

Please note the next Falcons home match scheduled for Redbraes on 10th July 2011 has been cancelled by British Cycling. British Cycling have confirmed this match will not be re-scheduled.

It has also been confirmed by British Cycling that the result of the Hull v Edinburgh match which was held in Hull on 17th April 2011 has been declared null and void. This match will not be re-scheduled.

These decisions come as result of a disciplinary hearing held by the Yorkshire Region of British Cycling on 18th June 2011 into the incidents previously reported at the away match v Hull on 17th April 2011.

The Edinburgh Cycle Speedway club have also been fined a total of £100 to cover costs of the hearing.

The Edinburgh Cycle Speedway club will not be appealing these decisions.

The background to this is here.

Cycle Speedway is very much a minority sport. "There is currently only one purpose built track in Scotland".

It's usually a fast and fun sport for taking part in (Falcons have always welcomed new riders) and watching. I'm sure the Edinburgh club hopes it can now return to being that!

Interesting looking bikes too. A great pity that there's all this aggro going on though!

Actually the Falcons ground is so close to me that I fancy going to their next home match to watch.

On second thoughts, maybe I'll skip the next one, as they are playing Hull!

Sounds a bit like the Scottish Junior Football of my youth (but not that bad as the Falcons website contained a link to the Hull website to get their side of it - very fair)
