Happened after I came in, but colleagues tell me there is a cyclist on the road, paramedics in attendance after a collision on south gyle broadway (western roundabout with s gyle crescent).

    Hope its not bad.

  2. Could Stepdoh check-in please?

Never a nice thing to hear, hope all concerned are reasonably well.

Not me, was just running late after dropping bub off. Again that should be a bit of road where nothing should happen. Hope cyclist okay. Isn't that Kaputnik's run?

I came past it this morning, it's not Stepdoh. A chap on an orange road bike with chino-coloured baggies and a checked shirt. He looked in some amount of discomfort - and I'm hope I'm right with this - he also didn't look too seriously injured and was talking with the paramedics. Did look at a bit of a strange angle so there may be some broken bones.

Always hard to work out what might have happened and I'm loathe to speculate, but looks like he may have been on the roundabout and caught by or between a car already on it and another coming on to it from South Gyle Broadway. It's not a fun roundabout, there's limited sightline because the roundabout has a raised centre planted with trees, so you can't see across it, and because most traffic goes straight across from one long, straight fast bit of road to another, car speeds are quite high.

But I think and hope he'll be fine.

First day back on the commute today. Not something you want to see any day though.

Gosh, I didn't see anything but I do tend to avoid the major roundabouts through South Gyle by cutting across the housing estate and over the toucan crossing through to South Gyle Crescent via the cycle path.

Hoping the chap is ok and any injuries heal well and quickly.

You're absolutely right about the lack of visibility on that roundabout, Kaputnik. However, I know that a few vehicles at that time take it with less than the due care and attention they should and with a rather questionable "it's my road - I shouldn't have to stop for anyone (least of all a bicycle), so I'm not going to" attitude.

It's such a shame that only a few months after the pedestrian death on South Gyle Crescent, an incident like this has happened.
