It’s a British problem because, as a legacy of the days when the gentry drove round in carriages, generations of school children have been indoctrinated to defer to drivers. If they so much as hear a car, they are taught to wait until it goes by.

Hmmm. Is Dave Prowse to blame for implanting ROADS ARE DANGEROUS in our heads, resulting in "Cycled in? Are you insane?" and drivers inferring that because people have been warned to look right, look left then look right again for them that everyone else should watch out for them, not vice versa?

My friend's stepmum used to go out with Dave Prowse, but when he was the Green Cross Code man, not when he was Darth Vader, Lord of the Sith.
