    Small bike shops have a knack of being able to fit in a wider range of more obscure things than bigger ones do (see Halfords and spokes). It's useful to know that you can go into one and ask for a particular part in a certain size and they will probably have one kicking around. Or if not, they'll know the correct catalogue to be able to order it for you (see Bike Chain and replacement struts for SKS mudguards and Bike Works and cable stops to convert downtube shifters to STIs).
