Maybe it was a phrase that sounded like 'treehugger'?

@Tom, perhaps continental cyling on the right hand side of the road (I presume) thinking that we have contraflow cycle lanes, and maybe someone told her that treehugger is a really sweary word and insult!! Could have been worse she could have called you chicken...

You may be acquainted with a bush but she may soon be acquainted with the inside of the A&E dept by the sounds of it.

is brought to you a day late courtesy of a guy in a blue ford coming up Leith Walk at the traffic lights junction one down from the roundabout (near valvona and crollas).

Three lanes exist, one for turning left, one for straight on and one for turning right. I intended continuing straight on so was carefully lining up so I was riding primary in the centre lane when this guy creeps up beside me and pushes his way in so that I'm forced over into the left hand turn lane. He then laughed and stuck his middle finger up at me. Thankfully the nice kind taxi driver behind waved me back in.

Was brought to you on Wednesday by a white Lexus that had to squeeze past me in the face of a line of three oncoming cars. It got nearly 100 yards up the road before being stopped at a red traffic light. It really could have waited until the three cars were past, overtaken me then and it would still have got to the light before it went green.

If you look at the video you'll see that it didn't even cross the white line while coming past, and that at one point I had two cars to my right, side-by-side. One of them shouldn't have been there.

    Ok, yesterday's rubbishing driving...
...was virtually every car that passed my house during those torrential hailstorms yesterday tea time.

The road was almost white with small icy pellets, you could barely see the tarmac, and still almost every car drove too fast (probably most doing >30) and braking too hard.

There must have been some bumps somewhere on the back of that.

Glad I wasn't cycling in it...

Today's was so bad that I was left doubting myself and wondering if I'd zoned out and drifted into the wrong lane or something.

Turning right at the Why In The World Would You Buy A PC Here roundabout onto Corstorphine Road and had made eye contact with a driver waiting to join but obliged to wait for me, but she nonetheless pulled out anyway, then saw me 'again', slammed on the brakes, then since she was blocking my way had to be waved on.

There was never any danger involved, but it was just so Jackie Chan Meme and I'm so used to assuming unfortunate events are my fault because I'm an idiot that I didn't really think in terms of Grrr.

That is, until I was collecting fruit from a man who's incredibly good at mental arithmatic. His daughter was nearby and asked if I was there, and upon discovering she had by chance been at the 'bout, related her horror at the unbelievably guff driving of the woman in front of her, compounded by her horror that it was inflicting nonsense on a man she knows well and has often sold treebabies to.

On way to work this morning, wet and dull (ie normal) heading up Henderson Terrace to go along Dundee Street. Lights at top at green for HT, all moving well. unbeknown to me car at front which i couldn't see was turning right, white 3.5 tonner behind him at my side thinks he can move left (shrinking a 1m+ space to zero)to pass, managed to bang on his door so he stopped and we had a "friendly" interchange.

He then drove off, due to road works caught up with him and passed him, got phone out tried to take photo of truck but too quick, but he thinks I did ;-)

Truck was 3.5tonner white canvas sides, no company markings, reg i think DZC SF07

Although not my fault, broke one of my rules, about not going up side of large vehicles. Annoying on several levels.

Last night's bad driving came courtesy of the number 36 Lothian Bus. Out for my evening jog (I know, in the rain, after cycling home from work!) heading downhill on Dean Park Crescent, noted a bus picking up at the bus stop at the junction with Ann Street facing uphill. Cyclist passes the bus, which immediately sounds it horn at him and pulls out without indicating. I could see exactly what was going to happen so stopped in case I was going to be needed as a police witness...

The cyclist was adopting primary as he approached the traffic island, going rather slowly (which, if you have ever tackled this hill, you will appreciate is nessesitated by the gaps between the cobbles and the incline) with the bus right on his tail. As anticipated the bus pulls out to overtake, perhaps twenty metres from the traffic island, realises he cannot pick up speed in a ten(?) tonne vehicle and pulls back in sharply whilst half way past the cyclist. Cyclist is forced to pull right into the gutter, only avoids going under the bus by less than a foot, and is then forced to stop by the parked cars he was in primary to avoid.

Unfortunately I did not get the bus's plate (other cars close behind it) but I noted the time, and as that service is every 20 minutes it should not be hard to identify the driver. Does the forum have a contact for LB that I can use to register the incident? Would love to see this behaviour punished, and understand that they are quite proactive in this respect?

They used to have a form on the website but now the link just results in a pop-up email. For something as aggressive as this I'd telephone it in "give us a call on 0131 554 4494 and select option 2" as I've sometimes not received any indication that an email complaint has been dealt with within the popularly-assumed CCTV-tape-overwrite window of one week.

Actually yesterday evening, Perth city centre.

I won't bore you with the confusing one way system, close passes, blatant illegal parking on double yellows and 4x4s dumped all over the cycle lanes around the centre of Perth. Oh, I just did.

Anyway, it somewhat spoiled an otherwise great day's cycling as I made my way to the station, homeward bound. Proceeding towards a junction, a parked car blocked my way, a large 4x4 is on my right, coasting to the lights. Driver of 4x4 pulls over to the left, to give more space to an oncoming vehicle which had to manouevre around a parked car on the other side of the road. All very gentlemanly, except I was on his left and he very nearly clipped me: indeed he would have if I had not swerved left and had to emergency stop to avoid aforementioned parked car blocking my way. Interestingly 4x4 did respect ASL at junction, so I filtered past, positioned myself head of him, and turned my head to give him a piece of mind about his driving skills.

Beep! Driver opens door, leans out while his female passenger sits, stony-faced. "What's your problem, you f***ing a***hole?" shouts the angry, overweight, middle aged road hog. "You nearly b****y killed me just back there, that's what my problem is. Try looking where you are going next time." I replied. "Do you want to go down the polis station? I'll report you you f***ing a***hole." came the surprising response. "For what exactly? You lead the way, no problem." I quipped.

The lights go green. Driver slams his door shut, we proceed, I spy a police car and gesture towards it, inviting the driver to approach them if he wishes. He overtakes, I flip the bird towards his rearview mirror.

We are approaching the entrance to the station parking, I am following him as this is the way I need to go. He pulls over in front of a car showroom on the left. Femal passenger (I presume his wife) gets out, and takes a camera from her bag to photograph me as I pass! I flip her the bird, helpfully obscuring my face in the process. Good luck down the police station with that, missus!

I proceeded on my way down to the station. Whilst waiting for the train, I wondered what offence I had committed in the minds of these people. Speaking my mind about poor driving? Making a rude gesture? Being a cyclist? Not wearing a helmet? Perhaps all the above.

4 X Hamiltons of Larkhall articulated tipper lorry divers decided to punish pass me this morning between The old Chain Pier pub and Ocean drive this morning. Between not giving me any room and pulling in too quick, these are 4 very dangerous drivers. They were all lined up waiting to go into the Daltons depot in the docks. Worst commute ever for dangerous driving.

    Not poor then.

From the rate that they were traveling at, my guess is they were empty and heading to the docks to collect their loads

Not much from Fettes, go to a station and report it. With no reg no's it'll get filed in the round drawer.
    Might just email the firm.

Ok emailed the firm, don't expect it to go far

Got a fairly positive reply from David Hamilton, who has passed it on to his transport manager to try and identify ans reprimand the culprits.

@scotti, good news. It's reassuring when there's a chief exec who takes messages like this seriously. Let us know if you hear anything further.

I've had another email from the Hamiltons, and the drivers have been spoken to, and that they will be more careful in future. It's good to get a positive response for a change.

Surprising how often this happens, but a car travelling in the opposite direction to me overtook another car just in front. They may get the timing and spacing right to avoid splatting me but it is very scary for the cyclist. This time I gave a wee hand signal to show my disappointment and got multiple horn blasts in return.

Motorists freedom to "enjoy" their motoring vs everyone else's safety and sanity.
