Lady (girl racer?) in the silver Corsa who MGIF'd us on North St David Street before the red lights onto Queen Street. We sat behind her as she inched slowly through the bike box, we danced to her overly-loud repetitive music and we laughed at her embarrassment. Then we stayed with her the whole way along York Place until leaving her in traffic at Picardy Place.

MOTORCYCLIST who drove at speeds of up to 98mph in city rush hour with a pillion rider and crashed into a bus shelter, causing his friend spinal injuries and hurting onlookers, has been jailed.

Grant Auld, 26, of Curriehill Road, Currie, was driving at high speed, doing wheelies with pillion passenger Rafal Berejowski, 25, on March 21, last year, when he swerved out of control.

White Range Rover reg 63 CM (I think) which undertook closely 2 cyclists on S St David St. 30 yards later was a red light so utterly pointless as well as extremely unsafe. Male cyclist gave driver pelters through window and female cyclist in front screamed at him and quite rightly so.

From last Wednesday: a #12 doing the fairly common but still unnecessarily thing of barging someone out of the way on the approach to the southbound Elm Row stop:

Was me I'm afraid, heading down Johnston Terrace in a commercial 4x4, approached the roundabout with Castle Terrace & Spittal Street, seen a car coming towards me (but I had priority over them) and a car approaching from the right on Castle Terr but there was plenty of room so was just about to roll on to the mini r-a-b when a cyclist "came out of nowhere".
Off course that isn't strictly true, I hadn't seen the cyclist, who was already on the roundabout, due to the six foot high signage at the bottom of Johnston Terrace indicating its closure eastbound. I stopped before encroaching too far over the give way but the cyclist was quite rightly concerned and gave me a good ol' stink eye.
Whilst the council could probably have maintained better sight lines with strategically placed road clutter, I should never have assumed the roundabout was clear to go until I had positively confirmed it as such!

Apologies again if it was anyone on here!

Travelling through Dalmeny village city bound this morning around 7.30 4 cyclists had congregated at random and were single file, but close together along the road. I was at the back.

A car came racing alongside us and reached the 2nd rider when she reached the junction to the road town to the shore and started indicating that she needed to turn left. She inched across but the 3rd rider was already committed and rode on. I stopped because I really didn't know what she was going to do. No acknowledgement or apology.

Then a stagecoach bus came out of the junction and the driver was a star. Saw that the cyclists were spread over about 100m and just sat back and waited as he judged it wouldn't be worth overtaking. Knew we'd be on the footpath within a minute and was prepared to wait rather than try to gain a few seconds. Turned out he was right as well, as a passenger was waiting for him round the corner.

Private hire idiot who clearly hasn't read the HC - first she tries to run me off the road while moving into the lefthand lane going uphill on Broughton St, then moves fully into the ASZ while the lights are red.

When I point out her stunning numpty-ness, she claims I was "actually in the middle of the road" instead of in the gutter, where riffraff like me clearly belong.

Plonking myself in front of her bonnet and taking my sweet time moving on the green light was probably petty, but oh so satisfying.

Lothian Bus driver trying to pretend a cyclist wasn't there, slowly passing at a relative mile an hour before immediately pulling into the Elm Row stop. Not me, but I might report it anyway.

A Kerr removals van, trying to pull away from the roadside without looking, doing a lot of pointless beeping in stationary traffic and getting a bit swervey on the approach to the London Road roundabout.

Yesterday and today I was nearly broadsided at low speed by vehicles filtering on to Teviot Place from Lothian Street, clearly without bothering to look given that I was wearing my new fluorescent green winter jacket. The traffic was at a standstill around the corner of Bristo Place and Teviot Place on both occasions, but I was able to progress using the cycle lane only to have a car move on to the bike lane as I was doing so. Obviously this is completely unforeseeable to a driver stuck in traffic...

Prompted by signage on the train yesterday and a driver punishing us for preventing him from passing where there wasn't space to do so safely...

Where are the posters that say:

We will tolerate physical abuse, threatening behaviour and verbal aggression against our cyclists.

I'm sure they're posted somewhere in society, but I seem to be missing them.

White Van Man in spirit but not in name (the van was dark green with gold writing). Shaking his fist at me and gesticulating wildly because he was going through roadworks behind me. I think the name on the van was WM Parsons but I can't confirm a trader like that exists.

The regular shifting of available lanes around the London Road roundabout appears to vex motorists, causing beeping. At the moment the inside bit you'd take if turning right from Picardy Place to London Road is coned-off, so vehicles not in a turning-right position are still turning right, which traffic heading south from Elm Row is mostly unable to comprehend.

W825 PSX - Watch out for this Blue Volkswagen Golf folks. Felt the need to pass at the Greenbank Lights and moved aggresively across to pavement. Passed them in the traffic.

Left hooked as they had to get to Shell filling station. Then to cap it all they came alongside coming towards the temporary Liberton Drive traffic lights and started moving left. They almost went through the red traffic light in their desperate efforts to get in front. Passed them again coming to the Libeeton Crossroads.

    Definitely EEN commentard material!

  18. Single-decker Lothian Bus who decided he had to get past me on Ferry Road despite an obvious oncoming vehicle. As anticipated, he started pulling left when I was about level with the middle of the bus, so I had to haul on the anchors and drop back out of the squashing zone.

I'll have a wee look at the footage when I get home tonight and consider reporting it, though I don't think they really care much any more going by other reports on CCE.

"...though I don't think they really care much any more going by other reports on CCE"

Which is why I'm sending everything in, including things I spot them doing to other people. If they're not going to train their drivers properly any more the least we can do is let their customer services team and depot managers know that this is displeasing.

There was a definite change in attitude from LRT customer services.

From: We've reviewed the footage and this isn't acceptable driving..

To: We will review the footage and take action if appropriate."

The former left you feeling you were being taken seriously - the latter feels like a brush-off.

Don't forget that you can also "report" good driving to them. A bit of positive reinforcement every now and then can only be a good thing.

    12 weeks after this

I've just been informed that the perp has been traced and charged with Section 3 (Careless Driving) of the Road Traffic Act 1988, and will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal

Result... and totally unexpected proof that NIP need not apply

Big shout out to Stickman for alerting this forum when the witness emerged on twitter

    God bless ya

    Well done all.

Bax perhaps you could talk to the police and find out why they were willing/able to pursue this(?)

It seems unusual and therefore quite important.

Well, after five weeks i made a policing standards complaint, as it hadn't been followed up

I can't really say this helped a great deal, other than to serve as an indicator that I wasn't about to forget all about it

Its probably more likely the guy had form

Otherwise, you'd have expected nothing more than "we went round and had a word"

I'd have got nowhere without the witness, obviously

I recently gave advice on here to block the lane of the road you are turning right off of rather than sitting in the middle of the lanes and encouraging undertaking.

Today, I didn't follow my own advice and very nearly paid for it.

Turning right off Ravvy Dykes I thought I could squeeze in between a gap in oncoming cars but then had second thoughts and stopped (still in the lane but further to the right than normal). Just at the moment I was going to wobbily set off a grey Zafira wizzed passed my left hand side not very far away which gave me an awful fright so I stopped to catch my breath. At which point a an Audi decided to follow through the same gap.

I won't be making that mistake again.

Not driving and no idea if killing was intended, but an interesting contrast with sentencing for actual deaths caused by 'potentially lethal' weapons vehicles.

    Tis the season...

Driver of a car on Corstorphine Rd / St John's Road this lunch time who was perusing a Christmas tree catelogue.

I challenged her on it and she thought I should mind my own business...

Maybe she was one of those 90% of above average drivers...

I should have taken a photo but I was late, it was raining and my phone was in my bag.

These actually happened about a month ago (was experimenting with different GoPro positions in case you're wondering)

Wasn't going to upload, but the driver in the Mini Countryman did exactly the same thing last week, so decided it was time to name and shame

Don't want to use the canal as I prefer road cycling - wish there was a safer way to get to Heriot Watt

The mini was clearly at fault - both for being in the bus lane (assume it was peak hours) and for not giving you enough space.

Have you considered riding in the middle of the bus lane?

This is what I do on the A8 and it works well to put off cars, taxis and buses from trying to share(/steal) the lane.

Doesn't always work for motorbikes who can try to squeeze through - hence why I'm not welcoming sharing the bus lane with them.

I also have to watch out for fast cyclists wanting to overake me...
