Close pass from a transit van on Lasswade Road earlier, with oncoming traffic. They waited (impatiently) behind the next cyclist until the road was clear to overtake, so I conclude that swearing loudly does occasionally help :)

"Close pass from a transit van"

Unfortunately I expect nothing else from most van drivers. Oh and if you take primary, 50/50 chance you'll be tailgated menacingly, with revving engine.

On Monday I was waiting to turn right onto Chambers Street having cycled up Forrest Road in primary of the left lane - I had the follow-me and another passenger on the front. Police van SF16NYO (same as reported by Murun Buchstansang) was approaching the queue going south on Bristo Place, but instead of stopping and not entering the box junction, thus allowing us to turn right, the driver drove into the box junction and blocked us from turning right. They looked me right in the eye as they did it. A shockingly inconsiderate piece of driving.

@algo, just letting you know who's boss, eh? Might is right on the roads, as everyone knows. Even PC Copper and the SPG.

taxi #1259 doing a sneaky u-turn at the top of Leith St 15 mins ago causing me to brake suddenly or I'd be into the side of him.

The Scozia Tour van driver who nearly hit me on the zebra crossing when I was halfway over because he was looking in the opposite direction. Don't look hard left while driving forward...

I have punted them a comment on Facebook, we'll see what happens.

A follow-up - got an apologetic response from their Facebook asking more details about time and location so they could track down the driver. Good stuff.

Not a cyclist-related one. But this morning, I was a car turn eastwards from Corbiehill Cres onto Corbiehill Place.

The driver cut the corner to the point she was entirely in the wrong lane - going round a corner where she couldn't see if anything was coming.

And going at a speed where, if someone had been reaching the corner from the other direction, there would have been a collision.

    Just utterly irresponsible and dangerous.

Had an idiot ignoring the fact I was waiting to cross the zebra crossing at Davidsons Mains this morning.

He then parked at Tesco and offered me a square go for pointing out he should be stopping. What a hero picking on someone about a foot smaller and around 25 years older!

The driver of a small dark blue hatchback turning right from Murieston Crescent onto Dalry Road who pulled out without looking properly straight in front of a cyclist travelling along Dalry Road.

Hats off to the cyclist who performed a spectacular hard front brake which lifted the back wheel off the ground by at least four inches but still managed to keep control!

I think I witnessed a black car that severly cut me up at Palmerston Place proceed to deliberately try to clip the back wheel of a guy on a foldable bike. Foldable bike guy was taking pictures of the car around the corner at the temporary lights. If it was anybody on here give me a shout as I had my go pro on so probably caught the whole episode.

If he was deliberately trying to hit a cyclist, he should do jail time. That is incredible.

I had a look at the video and the car is obstructing the view so it isn't really clear what happened and if there was any contact. Maybe the car didn't see him coming up the inside as it was pretty tight but the cyclist looked to be past the car from eye level.

Drummond Distribution lorry effectively bullied me into the gutter on Gilmore Place approaching the King's Theatre junction. Light had just switched to red so there was literally no point in me riding on the lunar surface, but no, he had to rev the engine and inch leftwards to show how unhappy he was with me taking primary. Obviously I overtook him and ended up turning right just as he was turning left having worked his way through the tailback. For some reason this made me really annoyed.

Even if there had been space ahead of me, he was never going to make it through before the speed bump/pinch point. All to turn right immediately!

That was absurd enough even before discovering there was a car in front of you too.

Gilmore Place again, lady in a white Mini convertible passing me at an unnecessarily high speed unnecessarily closely just past the Leamington pinch point. Guess who I caught up with at the King's Theatre lights. Gah.

A woman driver in front of me at Comely Bank leans over to the back seat to get her mobile when the lights are at red. Then she proceeds to drive with it at her ear for the next 5 mins!

@piosad They could do with more signage for the 20mph limit on Gilmore Place.

I don't know, she just wasn't driving at a sensible speed for the conditions full stop irrespective of the limit. Doubt signs would've helped.

I had to drive from the Airport to Murrayfield in the rush hour. It was Rubbish. Can't believe that people do this every day. No wonder drivers are so aggressive & stressed.

White Van Man from Alexander Ritchie plumbing blatantly left hooked (fortunately no contact) the cyclist in front to barge into Drysdale Rd from Dundee St. Even more moronic given all were starting from stationary about 20yds back at the Viewforth lights. Would have cost him literally milliseconds to wait his turn.

Also pretty sure the black cab driver behind at the Slateford/Harrison Rd cross ran the red light. Hopefully the cameras were in working order and a nice fine & 3pt endorsement are on their way, given that they then insisted on half-wheeling me all the way up Angle Park Terrace.

Going south on Old Dalkeith Road, coming up past Moredun, there's a couple of pinch points at traffic islands.

Take strong primary at the first - tailgated by a lorry driver who then gives me the finger as he passes.

Don't take a strong primary at the next - close pass from a sports car driver.

    Cannae win.

FFS. Almost doored by a car facing me (!) on the Polwarth roundabout (!!). Why one would stop on a roundabout next to the fence is a total mystery. With the wind in my face and the sun in my eyes I was really lucky I saw it in the nick of time,

After this the Viewforth Glazing lorry that executed a MGIF manoeuvre just down the slope at the traffic island past Scotmid, forcing me to brake hard to avoid crashing into the parked car almost wasn't too bad. As was the white Audi S333 ECK that took ages to get going once the green came on at the Gray's Loan lights, only to accelerate all too sharply once (I presume) they got off their mobile/their reverie was otherwise interrupted.
