Sorry to hear that. Hope you're ok.

You should definitely report it to the police as dangerous driving (see posts above)

After all, If it hadn't been for your avoidance skills there almost certainly would have been an injury / material damage

Yeah - push for prosecution (quickly, they've only got 14 days) and get it checked over, billing the insurance company as appropriate. You don't need to deal with her personally as, for a small fee, you can get insurance details from her registration number online.

And let us not forget the tragic events that happened to Audrey Fyfe after being "clipped" in similar circumstances.

Forgot to mention this one, Easter Sunday late afternoon, exiting the station on Calton Road. Two cars follow us up the road past the "road closed" sign. We stood outside the Starbucks and watched them travel downhill as far as the traffic lights outside Baillie Gifford. The first driver obvious realised they'd made a terrible mistake and went down Greenside Row but stopped almost immediately. The second driver did a U-turn behind and came back up Leith Street allowing the first driver to do the same.

Majestic levels of bad driving - up to and including driving on the wrong side of the road until you meet a (thankfully stationary) car in your lane facing the opposite direction.

Black cab X354 USF. Attempted to overtake me outside Haymarket. I was in the outside lane and the queue was all the way back from the lights at West Maitland Street. Even if there was room to overtake (there wasn't) then he would just have got to the next car in the queue, which I filtered past anyway.

Why is it so difficult to look ahead and anticipate things?

Driver of a Hillary's Blinds car doing a full clockwise circle around the traffic island at the top of Newtoft St, where the street meets the Gilmerton Dykes roundabout.

He drove up Newtoft St, started going the wrong way round the roundabout in order to do a U-turn, then did another U-turn before managing to go the right way round the roundabout.

    "

A woman has been arrested for allegedly being five times over the Scottish drink-drive limit after picking up a child from school.

Police in Gretna, Dumfries and Galloway, responded to reports the driver of a Nissan Juke had crashed into a hedge next to Gretna Primary School after collecting the pupil.

Officers say the 45-year-old failed to stop at the scene at 3.15pm on Thursday and was traced a short time later by police at her home address.

If proof were need that many drivers are unobservant to the point of idiocy:

Cars get stuck in wet cement at BP garage

Two cars got stuck at a filling station in West Lothian after driving into a freshly-cemented parking area. The area at the BP garage on Edinburgh Road, Bathgate, was cordoned off, but one car drove through the tape and sank immediately into the wet cement. Another car that followed the first one suffered the same fate.

    many drivers are unobservant

The cars did it all by themselves. No one mentioned any drivers...

Yep. Should be in the Sentient beings thread. Except there is this final comment from an eyewitness:

"It was taped and coned off but an older guy who had just filled up managed to drive through the tape and into the cement - closely followed by another car," he said.

I blame the concrete for failing to wear hi viz clothing from top to toe and tricking those poor car drivers. #victimshaming

Lothian Buses have changed their standard wording to complaints. This is the reply I got to reporting a driver go through a red light at a pedestrian crossing.

We have received your comments regarding the driver of service 12 on 14 April 2017.
Firstly, please accept my apologies for your experience. Due to the seriousness of the incident described the CCTV footage has been requested from the vehicle in the area at the time provided. The footage will be reviewed by the bus driver’s line manager and will be used as confirmation of the event described.
We have gone to great lengths to provide regular and extensive training in several areas which include Driving Standards and Customer Service courses. We take road safety very seriously and we have a full in house support team available to enable the drivers to achieve the highest standards. We are always disappointed to hear of anyone having a bad experience with one of our employees.
Failure to uphold these standards can result in formal interview and retraining if merited. Upon commencement of retraining the member of staff will not be allowed to operate our services until they can prove that they are able to operate professionally in a competent and consistent manner.
Upon confirmation, should the incident occur in the manner you have described, then formal disciplinary procedures will apply under company policy, where any penalty up to and including dismissal can result.
May I thank you for taking the time and trouble to contact us.

And you'll (probably) never hear anything more due to 'employee confidentiality'

It's understandable that LB doesn't want to say if (or what) disciplinary action has been taken.

However it would be reassuring to be told 'we've looked at the videos and agree (or not)'.

This has happened in the past, but I get the impression it's stopped.

I received the same reply to a recent complaint about a bus driver cutting me up. I replied saying it would be good to learn if they agreed about the standard of driving, when they have reviewed the incident.

Will update if I get a reply.

Truck merged into the side of me this morning on Gorgie Road, eastbound, just passing the lights at McDonalds. Driver and passenger having a right good laugh too and blew me a kiss.

Some kind of works van with highway maintenance written on the back. SO16 KWC

Edit: There was someone behind me also on a bike who saw it and for some reason I didn't take his details. If anyone on here can you pm me? thanks.

I had managed to forget about this but on Minto Street last week, an ambulance was trying to drive north on it with blue lights and sirens. A man in a white van was just chuntering along in front of it without any attempt to move over to let it pass. It is two clear lanes so the easiest move ever. He was still chuntering when they passed me so I didn't see if he ever moved over or just forced the ambulance to wait until such time as he or they turned off. Astonishing.

I was reminded this afternoon of why I tend to avoid cycling on London Road. Numerous close passes, drivers "just squeezing past" in the face of oncoming traffic. Cue various curses from me flung vainly in the direction of said drivers, and Paddington hard stares at said individuals if I drew alongside at the inevitable red lights a few hundred feet further on. Also cut up by Lothian Buses 124 driver as he overtook (close pass) then pulled into a bus stop, and would have crushed me had I carried on. I backed off, overtook him and called in the open driver side window that he needed some more training.

Also observed a black urban 4x4 being deliberately driven at a pedestrian near Meadowbank retail park yesterday evening. Okay the young lady in question was looking the wrong way, but the car driver actually accelerated and changed lanes to aim the car at her: if she had not heard it and jumped forward into the central reservation the car would have hit her.

Honestly there are some real arsehole idiot drivers out there. Keeping London Road as a four lane wide drag racing strip doesn't help matters. Should be 20mph along the whole length, residential and shopping areas right the way along.

For balance, shout out to the good drivers who waited behind until road was clear before overtaking or gave me plenty of room. I did try to show my appreciation with thumbs up, waves etc. Shouldn't have to, but I felt like encouraging them!

Will you report him to LB?

Going up Gilmerton Road yesterday, I had a fantastically patient driver wait a good distance behind me then overtake with loads of space. Turned out to be a neighbour. Not sure if he was so considerate because he recognised me, but will definitely thank him when I see him.

Too late for that. Didn't note the license plate number; can vaguely recall what time it was. Driver a farly young bloke. He certainly heard my comment.

The 124 is actually run by https://eastcoastbuses.co.uk/ it runs every 30 mins for most of the day, so a rough estimate of the time should suffice.

I have no idea how well they respond to complaints, or if they have CCTV cameras on their buses, though.

"or if they have CCTV cameras on their buses"

Assume so as it's basically LB.

I won't begin to list the examples of bad driving that I saw at Tollcross Junction earlier, although it has to be said that there were a fair number of questionable cycle manoeuvres as well. That is not a well designed junction.

Driver of small white Crummock van on his phone on Roseburn Terrace.

The usual drivers cutting the corner from Roseburn Place to Roseburn Gardens. One of them nearly took out a cyclist coming from the park. We exchanged "WTF?" looks.

A driver who started an argument with two cyclists only to discover they were off-duty police officers has been fined £200.
