Motorcyclist maybe AJ13 MDZ and an Inzuki brand? that sounds wrong. Did not Kawasaki and Suzuki merge into Kawazuki though but?

Anyway he barrelled down the bicycle lane from top of Ardmillan towards Diggers. This involved him undertaking a stationary polis car, they seemed to be uninterested. He gave me the comradely nod at new Boroughmuir. He went into the underground car park at Std Life in Semple St.

    Close enough - it's a Suzuki GM250.

Suzuki and Kawasaki set up a 'strategic business relationhip' in 2001 to share production platforms and parts sourcing, similar to the Dodge-Chrysler/Mitsubishi relationship of the 1980s, but otherwise remaining completely separate companies. This is why, for example, the Suzuki DL1000 VStrom was remarkably similar to the Kawasaki KLV1000.

Dear Toyota Driver on Liberton Drive,

If the cyclist in front of you is keeping up with the drivers in front of them, it's utterly pointless to try and overtake.

    Yours,

Most traumatic school run ever? very tempted to break forum rules.

Cycling with kids east on Granville Terrace (which becomes Gilmore Place). Mini-Srd in front, then micro, then me. Mini signals and moves right to turn into Viewforth terrace to go up to Montpelier. I can hear cars before, shoulder check then signal (helmet and arm) and micro and I move right. Massive silver SUV overtakes us both at speed, then zooms between us and mini, who is by now stationary, about to turn, and as he passes her on her left blasts his horn at her.

Then, we go up Viewforth terrace and turn right to go around the corner onto Montpelier. This is a narrow and blind corner with a big hedge and railings. we find ourselves face to face with a decorators van, fully on our side of the road and driving straight at us. to his credit, he brakes suddenly and reverses. He;d been trying to park in the last spot on that side of the road. got a fairly apologetic wave from the driver, but honestly, what if we'd been a car?

Yeah, thanks Frenchy. what makes me angry is that it was totally gratuitous. SUV was bound to have to stop at Viewforth, which was on red. he just clearly saw us as obstacles on the road. and then to vent his anger on a primary school kid?

only consolation is that driving like that he will doubtless get into an accident. just hope he doesn't harm others.

The PHC parked facing the wrong way at the corner of Palmerston Place and Chester St, blocking the left turn lane completely. I'm sure it was only for a minute.

Passed one of those courtesy cars that's all over writing near the foot of the mound. Guy starting creeping into the bike lane. Not because he was trtying to, but because he was writing a text on the phone in a cradle on the dash.

Caught up with him at the pedestrian lights at Rose Street and pointed at his phone (till showing texts and active keyboard so apparently he was texting while going through the junction) and he just shrugged in apparent bafflement at me.

Only realised as I pulled away that I hadn't clocked what the logo on the car was from, or the reg, otherwise I would have called the firm. :/

    <Rule2><Rule2><Rule2><Rule2><Rule2><Rule2><Rule2><Rule2>

If I am stationary at a junction, signalling right, waiting for oncoming traffic to pass, when I go to make my turn I DO NOT WANT the car behind me to attempt to turn right at the same time. <Rule2> off and LET ME MAKE MY TURN! WHAT THE <Rule2> DID YOU THINK I WAS DOING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH MY ARM STUCK OUT?

    Honestly.

I'd not had the best commute, but that took the biscuit. It wasn't just the one car, either, the one behind went as well.

Nothing as bad as that. Some people need their keys taken from them.

The closure of Pink Hill must have caught out a few half wits this morning. More than a few cars speeding, not just a little over the 20 limit, passed the school at Carrick Knowe.

Another parent from my child's nursery tried to cream me this morning as I cycled to work. I was cycling in primary due to potholes on my side and there were parked cars on the other side. Despite this she still felt there was room to overtake me. I hadn't realised I knew her when I was gesticulating and shouting about crappy overtaking.

Could make pick up from nursery a little awkward in future!

Lezzles - You could always ignore the fact that it was her but mention that someone in a car similar to hers almost caused your child to lose a parent.

    agree with 'wishicouldgof.'

there's a hotel there, and every. single. morning. there are PHCs there doing stupid crap. my favourite was the one with only left-side wheels on the pavements, even i couldn't get passed on cycle. picked up passengers--after quite a bit of discussion, then USED THE ASL TO MAKE A U-TURN!! and head down towards Dean Bridge!

This seems to be common practice now. It can be utterly terrifying.

This morning a white van driver turned right from Roseburn Street into Roseburn Place (which I was about to turn left out of), then decided against and started to reverse back into Roseburn Street. I don't think he saw the cyclist he was about to reverse into so I shouted at him and he stopped.

Close passed and got the "What the...?" hand gesture from a driver because I selfishly delayed them a whole three seconds instead of cycling into the back of a parked car.

Caught up with them at the bottom of the hill, and gave them a dirty look, but decided against engaging in conversation.

Got passed, in a 20mph limit, by the driver of a black BMW X3 doing about 30mph down the hill on Craigleith Hill Ave.

After the overtake, he promptly had to slam on the brakes to avoid going into the back of a parked car (oncoming traffic). With children on board.

He then pulled up to park near Crewe Rd S, so must've saved himself all of 5 seconds.

Also other children, including one approx 5 years old scooting on the pavement.

Endangering your own & others' children. Just another day on the roads...

I notice someone flagged this junction on the recently Musselburgh consultation placecheck map - I'd never really had a problem there - but now see their point.
As soon as I got home I went onto Google Streetview to check there *was* actually a give-way there the car was supposed to be stopping at...
They followed me down the road blasting their horn. My bad I guess.
