@IWRATS - thanks for the empathy - I am hopeless in such situations. He said he'd be waiting for me on my return and I saw his vehicle parked up so was a tad nervous, but thankfully we made it back ok without any further confrontation.

He said he'd be waiting for me on my return
An ideal opportunity to tranquiliser dart him from a helicopter. Big crate, released into a suitable reserve etc.

@algo sorry to hear this. You need to use the camera on the school run ..I know its a pain. Sadly you are right about the police tho' although with the kids involved you may have more luck than normal.

@algo Call it in -its a route you stand a good chance of encountering the same oaf on again. Call it in this time, so that when you next see him and become afraid he'll threaten you again and call the police again you'll have the first incident to cite.

Thanks all. Alas no reg but I may see it again. Didn't want to divert to get it this morning as I had the kids

I think Wingpig has a good idea. Apparently 2 complaints of this nature could amount to stalking and a 5 year prison sentence. Identification can be done many months after the event with pictures provided from social media by the police :D.
Oh and no evidence is required ....just your word

That's not an easy law to use in practice.
https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1997/40/section/8
You have to get a 'non-harassment order' from a court.

Sorry to hear that algo.
The Range Rovers seem to be the worst offenders for speeding on Warrender Pk Rd. Do you know the colour of it?
I'll keep my eyes peeled. If I see them speeding, I will call it into the cops as well.

@neddie - thanks. It was white, quite fancy and new. Think it was J6***

Watch out for Yakuza all the same?

Unfair on animals already in reserve surely, unless it's a special reserve for angry 4WD bullies. Maybe pop them in with the Highland Wildlife Park polar bears and see how they like being the vulnerable one?

Tragic. And unforgivable.

Ah. The old "coughing fit" BS defence again. Weak, but the courts/fiscals keep falling for it.

Nearly flattened this morning, as I was pedestrianising around the corner from Caiystane Hill on to Caiystane Crescent, by a small white van being driven at some speed with two wheels on the footway. It seemed that the driver of a larger van had misjudged the timing of his right turn from Caiystane View on to Caiystane Crescent (possibly due to the unexpected speed at which the smaller van was approaching from his left - although I didn't witness that part of incident) and had stopped with his van blocking 75% of the road. Rather than slow down and/or stop to let the situation get resolved safely, the driver of the white van had chosen to mount the pavement to get past - just as I came round the corner. He disappeared off along Caiystane Crescent at a fair lick - certainly well in excess of the 20mph limit.
Unfortunately I was so preoccupied with avoiding erratically-driven vehicles that I failed to get the van's registration.
It took a few seconds before I realised just how close the van had come to taking me out. Quite cross about it now I have time to reflect on what did happen, and what nearly happened.

Rabbie's coach taking the corner from Lothian Road (southbound) to the West Approach Road whilst the driver was visibly gabbering into his headset microphone. Got the registration and will report.

@wingpig got two video/pics of Rabbies on the wrong side of the Queensferry st / princes street...but who would we report them to?

A taxi driver overtook me as I was turning left onto Princess St from outside Waverly station. He was clearly jumping a light (as I just made it through myself). He nearly drifted into me around the turn. I have to admit that I reacted poorly by shouting as he passed me and then by knocking on his window to ask what he was up to (I got a fright to be honest). When asked if he was trying to kill me he said that if he wanted to do that he'd get out of the taxi...
On the way home a car was turning right but the driver was looking left as they turned and pretty much drove on the wrong side of the road as I approached. Again no apology.
Add to that two peds walking infront of me and not apologising (standard) it's been a bad day.
I got the bike to get some freedom and to avoid the daily bus drag. Days like this make me doubt if it's really worth it.

This particular taxi driver who got bored waiting 30 seconds for the light to turn green, so went on red.
I actually think he probably saw the tour bus going, and then forgot how to drive, and thought he could go, which is why I can't be bothered reporting it.

Angry entitled Range Rover man who likes to intimidate school children from a few posts ago is still around most of the time on Warrender Park Road - here he is parking next to some bins making a dangerous pinch point for school children making their way up the road. It might not seem much, but cars coming the other way don't think twice about pulling out to overtake and the kids going uphill on the cobbles here get squeezed into the side. It's always like this outside the paint shop in the mornings. I am thinking of writing to the paint shop on behalf of the school and asking them tell their customers at school drop-off times not to double park - I expect fully this will fall on deaf ears however.

I would report your previous encounter to the police, since you have his registration now. You say "they won't do anything" - they certainly won't if you don't tell them about it. On top of the bad driving he appears to have indulged in threatening behaviour towards you and your children. The police are likely to take much more of an interest in that (sadly) and at least go and "have a word".

@Frenchy - nice! I'll dig out my old carpets offcuts...
thanks @ejstubbs - I am following up a witness and then may well do that.
Posted 6 years ago # -
Good luck!
If nothing else it can help to establish a 'pattern of behaviour' in the event of any further incidents occurring. (So make sure to keep a record of your interaction with the police - date & time, officer you spoke to etc - in case they manage to 'misplace' theirs...)

Things don’t change until those in charge experience things for themselves. Today Lesley Macinnes felt strongly enough to tweet this:
“Just been ‘punished’ by @Phoenix_Floors_ van driver because I shot him look when I had to walk my bike past his stupidly blocking bike lane at Summerhall. Revved dangerously past me far too close to turn left. Needs reminded of responsibility when he’s driving a 2ton weapon!”

As I was approaching a chicane in Rosyth this morning I heard the sound of a large vehicle approaching behind. I'm not sure if I should be thankful or not that they decided to pass me on the wrong side of the chicane/road. No livery marking on the vehicle at all that I could see and it didn't seem worth remembering the numberplate.
