@CycleAlex - Ah, but you can do something about PHV... Complain to the licensing authority (relevant local council).

They will often take action where the police won't, even if that action is to just to record the info on the license, or interview the driver.

Obviously, corroborating evidence helps, but isn't required, unlike with police complaints.

Private hire car pulling out onto St. John's Road and overshooting the give way markings by a couple of feet, causing me to soil myself and shout.

Cycling up the footway of the Biggar road a coach from Airdrie passed me close and fast enough that I took the name of the Lord in vain. I repeat I was on the footway and got a fright from a coach on the road.

Not sure where you would get new smalls in biggar nor why a bus from airdrie would be there unless bowling related?

I made new smalls from scavenged wool. Such is the bikepacking spirit.

Nearly chapped your door but the wind was fair and I was a machine.

Was down in Stockbridge buying cheese called Tom and chilli jam from Symington (Ayrshire Symington) Stockbridge is another country.

We were in Henderson's for a spot of lunch and a young Yah had run the marathon then come into the cafe. She was honking. We had to move. What sort of privileged entitled upbringing makes you think it is ok to bring your Bad marathon B O into an enclosed poorly ventilated vegetarian cafe that has been selling the same salad since 1962?

That must have been a hell of a hit. The fact the driver is in custody makes be think he was drunk/on drugs or it was deliberate.

Yup, with the yellow pannier slung over my shoulder. Another non-reciprocal spot! I found that M&S sell jeans that actually fit me and most importantly, have enough give in them to allow me to cycle comfortably.

Rabbies tour bus driver who appeared to speaking on his guide headset. That he was doing this on the exact spot where Zhi Min Soh was killed made me particularly angry.

The whole Rabbies business model is illegal; "The stories and services of an English-speaking driver-guide."

    (2) Subject to paragraph (3), a driver shall not, when a vehicle is in motion, speak to any person either directly or by means of a microphone.

    (3) Nothing in paragraph (2) shall prevent–

(a)the driver of a vehicle from–
(i)speaking in circumstances when he is obliged to do so by reason of an emergency or on grounds of safety; or
(ii)speaking to a relevant person in relation to the operation of the vehicle provided that he can do so without being distracted from his driving of the vehicle; and
(b)the driver of a vehicle which is being used to provide a relevant service from making short statements from time to time limited to indicating the location of the vehicle or operational matters provided that he can do so without being distracted from his driving of the vehicle.

I tried to report it to the Scottish Traffic Commissioners but they didn't care. Would the police give a monkey's?

JCB Joinery with several revvy close passes just to join the traffic queue in front on the way back from Roseburn to Newington. One of which involved some not particularly prudent riding by me but I can't forgive the blatant speeding through a red light at the west end of Melville drive, with the Meadows Festival on and kids waiting at the lights to cross.

@stickman twice in the last 6 months had issues with them at that spot.. one cut passed me on the wrong side of the road as the light changed heading north and then when i remonstrated with him at the orchard brae lights he took off on the red right turn and hit a cyclist waiting in the ASL...the other heading south into princes street overtook a bus turning left and headed straight at me on my side of the road .. ... you'd think they'd learn...but there is no remorse no care no idea...

Not really rubbish driving, but thought provoking. When I was trundling round the Borders yesterday, the roads were full of classic cars for the Thirlestane Castle Classic Car Show today. They were very lovely and brightened up the journey. Many of these 'classic' cars were ones I remember from my youth (which is a sad reflection on the inexorable march of time) but thing that really struck me was how small they all were, even the ones that seemed big at the time.

One reason that the roads feel so crowded now is that cars are all so bloomin' enormous, even the small ones.

@Greenroofer - Absolutely spot on. In fact even as late as the late '80s cars were a reasonable size. Was reflecting on this as not far from our locale there was a Mercedes 190E 2.5 16 "Cosworth" parked nose to nose and completely dwarfed by a Audi A1! Equally when I was a lad a Rover SD1 was a big car and the Sierra we had was a size down. Saw a Rover parked next to a Mondeo and again it was completely dwarfed!

@greenroofer, you joining my campaign for small cars? They hav to b under 3 metres if only one or two persons. So the old mini, the old cinquecento and err a few n'ew ones. The new cinquecento is lowed in as despite being over three metres I like it.

This is just for driving into Edinburgh without passengers

Riding out and back on the Lang Whang I had the usual rubbishness coming through currie and balerno, but nothing unexpected. Then trying to turn up Woodhall Road from Colinton Villiage an old man as revving trying to squeeze past as I tried to get going and signal right, he was so close I couldn't go right so I signalled again and he honked at me and started shouting. Essentially he's more important in his red car. I did some shouting, he sped off making his Skodas front wheels spin. Thoroughly disappointing end to the ride.

Driver that overtook my wife and I (in our dead dinosaur-powered vehicle) whilst we sat at a responsible distance behind a cyclist attempting to turn right onto Cramond Road North. Poor cyclist was almost wiped out by the moron who ended up saving ... oh yes that's right, absolutely no time whatsoever.

First time I've been punishment passed in a car for giving someone enough time to safely manoeuvre.

Someone came very close to driving straight through the red light at the pedestrian crossing on Newington Road that I was 3/4 of the way across earlier. They slammed on the brakes when the driver who was pulling out of West Newington Place beeped their horn at them.

The driver of the PHC which turned from Home St to Gilmore Place into what would have been me, had I not evaded them, made me bellow a rude word in what might have been children's earshots. I expect they were attached to the vehicles in front of them which had made the same manoeuvre without there having been am oncoming vehicle in their way.

The driver who decided to use the bus lane to undertake a learner driver on Slateford Road yesterday evening. I bet they didn't want to do 20 in the 20...

Gilmore Place eastbound, car parked in the so-called cycle lane, so both the cyclist in front of me and myself pull out to go round it, at which point we suffer a fast, close pass by a Lothian Buses liveried van for no reason whatsoever (the other lane was empty and the light had just turned red, so no time saving either). Complained to LB on Twitter who were suitably apologetic.

PHC driver pulled out in front of me as I was going down Gilmerton Road. Shouted "AAAARRGGHHHHH" and slammed on the brakes. Luckily the van driver behind had stopped texting, at least temporarily, as well.

Filtered past the PHC at the next set of lights, and they gave me LOTS of space after that.

This driver who first of all crawled across the road in front of me, and then decided to just stop, blocking the bus lane (which I was in), right in front of me.

I slammed on the brakes when I realised they were just going to stop in front of me, causing me to come skidding to an (almost) halt. If I wasn't on my mountain bike (my regular hybrid is in the LBS getting the free hub replaced), I probably wouldn't have stopped in time.

From this afternoon, not THAT bad, but just weird driving.

The driver decided to change lanes without indicating or apparently looking - there was another car in the bus lane behind me, so it's not as if they didn't see me because they weren't looking for bikes. What's not evident on the video is that when I looked back the second time, the driver had pulled back into their lane and stayed there.

This was the same driver who I filtered up the inside of on Mountcastle Drive South because I was turning left and they weren't indicating - I'm not sure if the lurch towards me was some sort of punishment for that, or if they just use their mirrors as much as they do their indicators.

Strange driving from the person in the white car. But I feel compelled to ask: why weren't you riding centre of the bus lane, or even further to the right? I realise the black car wasn't far behind when the incident occurred, but you would have been better positioned to move right. But then, drivers are capable of all sorts of nonsense and we conduct endless whatiffery in our heads as we ride.

My usual approach is to maximise my escape routes, both left and right, when I ride, and if that means riding BIG then I do, even if drivists behind me don't like it.

Third and final entry for today (Today has been an especially bad day) was this driver.

I was doing 25 mph when they overtook, it looks like they're doing 35-40 mph in the 20 mph limit. Just before the roundabout.
Then they decide to brake because they didn't think there's room to get through on Meadowbank Terrace, thus getting in my way.

I was on my mountain bike and had pulled away from another cyclist on a road bike at the previous lights. They were fairly close behind when I last looked behind (Which was about 20 seconds before the video starts), so I thought they might want past - so I was keeping further left than I normally would.

But yes - I should have:
    1. Been more central, considering there's two lanes
    2. Slowed earlier when I saw them crawling across the road in front of me
