stickyFrom last month, that driver that performed a head-on charge. It's been over a month now, so I presume the driver did indeed accept the careless driving charge (The officers said that the driver was planning to), so I can upload the video now.
They got 3 points and £100 fine, and I had to buy new trousers at my own expense. This is (now) the closest pass I've ever had, at about 2cm.

And another old one, this one from 8 months ago - someone driving along Liberton Road while tapping away at an iPad.
I reported this, but was told it's not clear enough footage to charge the driver with using a handheld electronic device while driving, but he was clearly distracted and they'd charge him with careless driving.
After chasing this up 4 or 5 times over the last 8 months, I was last told "There's no crime report for the incident" meaning the driver was never charged. Considering it's been 8 months, I think it's safe to assume the police aren't taking any action, so I've uploaded the video.

After a bit of good driving in allowing me to switch lanes near Musselburgh the driver decided to jump the red light that had been red for at least 4 secs before he got to it!
Off-road unlicensed motor bicycle roaring down Restalrig Road, then turning round and roaring back up it doing a wheelie after the rider saw the flashing police lights outside he McColl's further down.
Two people on (licensed) motorbikes going very slowly and carefully along the Roslin-Shawfair path yesterday.

I'm driving down Drumbrae towards the big Corstorphine roundabout at under the speed limit. There's an AA van behind me. The bus lane appears on the left. "I should use the bus lane", think I (it is Sunday evening). As I'm about to move into the bus lane, the car behind the AA van appears and passes me on the left. I put my left indicator on to show that I'm going to move into the bus lane, whereupon the driver of the AA van also moves left so I stay where I am and they undertake me as well. Just as well I was keeping an eye out on what was going on behind me...
(My Rubbishness was not getting into the bus lane quickly enough.)

This morning a driver couldn't be bothered with the queue of traffic waiting to turn right into Torpichen St so blatantly drove the whole length of the queue along the tram line and then cut in in front of the cyclists in the ASL as the light turned green. Zero points for guessing what they were driving.

We were walking down the mound just after this and noticed the polis taking witness statements off two cyclists
Just back at work after a few weeks on holiday and heard from one of my workmates of his horrific ordeal and narrow escape.
Apparently he was going straight on at a crossroads and a van coming from the opposite direction turned right across his path. What makes it worse as that because the police said it was an accident he is refusing to pay for any bike repairs and now claiming it was my friends fault!
I am passing on some correspondence I have regarding my crash (4 years ago) and have already advised him to see a lawyer.
His bruises are something else but he's back on a bike already! :)
@greenroofer and twinspark, with reference to the smaller older cars, I remember seeing a photo of an E-Type Jag a while back next to a Mondeo or some such similar, and the difference in size was astonishing - especially as the E-Type seems a big car.
Closer to home, my Mini sandwiched between a 308 and Corsa, both considered 'small' cars.

I've got pics of it next to Fiat 500s (like gembo I like them), but it's most hilarious parking next to new SUVs.
I also have a modern(ish) Mini Clubman - 8 years old, and perfect for our needs. And we'll never upgrade it to another modern Mini (this is our third incarnation) simply because they've made the newest Clubman much bigger (and uglier) and the hatch has ballooned as well. As for the Countryman - one of the ugliest cars on the road. Don't get me started.
A new car ad made me laugh out loud recently. For Seat. Another big SUV. Except they've changed the meaning of SUV. At the end it declares it stands for 'Seat Urban Vehicle'. The chutzpah of suggesting such a monstrous vehicle could be perfect for the urban environment is risible. If you 'must' use cars in the city (despite liking cars 95% or more of my urban movement is by bike, walking, bus or tram) small is key!

That's awful, I hope your workmate recovers soon. I can recommend Cycle Law - I'm just back from an appointment with a consultant who was looking at what remains of my injuries from when a van driver undertook me, deliberately knocked me off my bike and then left the scene in November - his insurance is saying the driver isn't to blame (Despite a witness seeing the driver undertake me and swerve into me), so Cycle Law are going to pursue for pain and suffering in addition to the cost of repairs.
The result of mine was -
All items damaged replaced or costs reimbursed
All expenses such as bus fares reinbursed
Physio paid for
Comp payment on top for injury and distress
Driver charged after I complained to the police because they were going to do hee haw.
I used Cycle Law too who were really good, the police however (especially the attending officers)were fairly useless and didn't bother getting evidence. Also they were not interested in any charges despite originally saying the driver would be charged with dangerous driving!
Heading down Liberton Road, towards the new bus lane camera, I was suppressing a smile at all the drivers in front of me who will presumably be receiving letters in the post soon when, exactly as @Roibeard prophesied, two different drivers tried to turn into the bus lane without checking it wasn't already occupied by a cyclist. One of them felt the need to shout abuse at me when they passed me once round the corner.

We had an old mini estate on loan as kids after my old man had walked away unscathed from 360 degree right off of the family avenger. As kids we loved the back doors and the carpet but even then we knew the olive green paint and the bizarre wood effect trim was gash.
My primary one teacher from Kilmacolm wore Paisley pattern maxi skirts and drove a purple e type jag. I was in the back once and it was cramped.

Generally this morning, poor driving as a whole. Expected it, given it was raining. Seems to bring out the worst (when exactly the opposite should happen in those conditions).
The driver who compromised between waiting patiently for me to cycle by in front of them and decisively pulling out when flashed to do so by the driver of the van on the far side of Gilmore Place. Instead, they allowed their vehicle to roll gradually out of the side road, blocking my path, before eventually crossing the lane and taking up the road position ahead of the van. I raised my arm in irritation at them both before cycling round the back of the vehicle.

I've been incident free for about two weeks now, and had two in the space of 10 minutes which are getting reported to 101 on my way home tonight.
First was on Portobello Road, Eastbound, just after the traffic lights at Jock's Lodge. Driver of some Ford SUV thing decided to drive alongside me - driving over the hatched area in the middle of the road, and then creep left, pushing me out of the lane. I was about 2m from the car in front, matching speed.
I shouted "What are you doing?!" and knocked on the window, and the driver pointed at the gutter. I punched the wing mirror, and the driver sped off.
Second was on Duddingston Crescent (Which Google maps says is the A1) at the junction with Sir Harry Lauder Road, also heading Eastbound. I was stopped at the lights in the inside lane, in the bike box, and a white Mercedes with personalised number plate rolled into the bike box next to me, the driver holding a phone in his hand.
I looked at him and shook my head, he saw me and dropped the phone into his lap. I knocked on his window and told him to get off his phone, he said "It's fine, it's coming through the car". I told him it doesn't matter, it's in his hand, he said something I didn't catch (sounded sweary) and pointed at me.
I presume he was saying "You're right, I'm a total idiot! I wish I knew the law, like YOU."
In the midst of me shouting "I don't care, get off your phone", the driver behind him beeped (probably seeing what was going on), causing him to drive another half car length past the forward stop line because he thought the light was green. I pointed out that if he hadn't parked up in the bike box and wasn't on his phone, he might have noticed that the light was still red.
Both are getting reported to 101 tonight, once I check the footage is clear enough.
I assume the white van driver trying to scrape me off against some parked cars on Lochend Road had just been explaining how brilliant he was at driving to the child in the passenger seat, and was therefore more than a little enraged by my glancing round at him with disparaging eyebrows, requiring him to skid to a stop (from the 30mph he had been doing) to verbally posture at me.
Just given a statement / shown the videos to the police for Friday's incident.
First one is being charged with dangerous driving most likely (TBC), since he hit brushed my elbow (collision), then hit my hand, bending his mirror back when I extended my arm (another collision), and looking at the rear footage, he had to slam on the brakes before all of this, and stopped what looks like 2 inches from my rear wheel, which caused one of the officers to suck air in through his teeth and go "Woooooaaaaahhhhh....."
That driver is also being charged with failing to stop after a collision.
Second is a straightforward using a phone while driving charge, they weren't interested in also charging him for stopping in the bike box, and I didn't push for it.
Fingers crossed that's two sets of 6 points on the way.
