You might imagine that would be failure to yield to a bike coming downhill while turning right into Chambers Street.

I've seen it almost cause a collision there a few times, once involving a police car.

STATS19 data shows nine collisions involving cyclists at that junction between 2015-2019.

Every single one of them involved a driver turning right and a cyclist going straight on or turning left.

My pal The King is a datum that makes up this data. Taken out by uninsured driver at that junction. cycle Law most effective.

Yikes. Wonder if given bus gate traffic reduction it would be palatable to make it one way at a time only. Perhaps planned anyway if it's going down to one southbound lane?

clipped/brushed by a wing mirror nr top of Dundas. Car didn't stop, caught up with her 200m later on George. Unapologetic. Cycled straight to Gayfield, statement given, 'failing to stop at the scene', hopefully NIP on its way.

Fancy Nissan GTA tailgated me up the narrow southbound section of North Bridge, pulled alongside at the lights and showed off to me and their passenger their noisiest manly exhaust stench. Attempted a left hook at the ASL with the Royal Mile, which to be fair I only entered out of annoyance. They shouted some stuff, so did I, but mainly I was very impressed and in awe of this extremely practical city vehicle.

    I swooned.

I had a DGAF right turn pulled on me when cycling through Corstorphine by someone going up Kaimes Rd. Asides from that most drivers I encountered were paying attention.

This one happened on Friday (took me a while to get round to uploading the footage).

    https://youtu.be/oG2TGRBX1v0

I became aware of the van behind me as I was leaving the "pedestrians and cycles only" section of the Braid Road closure. I suspected (though I didn't see it happen) that he'd have had to drive over the footway to get out, and the footage from my rear-facing camera confirmed it. I didn't see the van enter the closure zone at its north end, but it certainly wasn't lurking anywhere within the zone as I rode through so I assume it must have been driven over the footway there as well.

The driver did stay a reasonably considerate distance behind me as I rode on up Braid Road, but when there was eventually room to pass they did so at rather more than the posted 20mph limit. I had my eMTB in "turbo" mode at the time and was doing 25kmph on the assistance limiter. The van passed and pulled away from me at considerably more than a brisk walking pace/gentle jog.

And another one from Braid Road on Friday. The driver of grey Citroen MJ66 FVK clearly couldn't wait just a second or two longer, and chose to cross the short stretch of double white lines in order to overtake me:

(I was doing just shy of 32kmph at the time so they must have been speeding, too. As was the driver of silver Audi BJ59 RWJ, who passed me a few seconds later and then turned left in to Buckstone Drive about 100 yards further on, so can't have saved more than five seconds of his life by that particular piece of law-breaking.)

    Dear Council,

I just witnessed some absurdly dangerous and illegal driving by one of your employees. I was sat in stationary traffic here at 15h25 today, 30th November and was alarmed to see one of your liveried vehicles (Reg number C19 KVT) pass me on the left driving on the pavement at some speed to access Niddrie Marischal Road without waiting for traffic to move. I do not know how far they drove on the pavement.

    Two issues arise:

    1) The obvious danger to Edinburgh's citizens from box vans driving at speed on the footway

    2) The state of mind of the council employee to imagine that this was acceptable or required of them during work hours

I hope you'll pass this on to the managers involved. Somebody (and not necessarily just the driver) needs a stern talking to, possibly by the police.

    Thanks in advance,

    IWARTS

Think there's a missing letter in your number plate there.

I could have a go at figuring out what it is, if it's not just a typo?

I'll bet CEC only has one vehicle ending 19KVT. Of course, highly unlikely anyone will put any effort into working it out.

List of CoEC vehicles from an FoI does seem to have a matching number. Some Councils have tracking on all their fleet so they can trace vehicles if there are complaints or incidents, and Fleet Manager might be keen to take action to stop bad driving like this.

...and so is CP19 KVH, the driver of which I was posting about on the previous page of this thread.

Excellent, will be sending an email about that too.

Maybe these vans sit next to each other at Cleekim Depot and the same radge cat takes them out alternately or maybe there are two radge cats?

THere used to be an NHS driver you really had to look out for which made me wary of all NHS vans,

I will now be very wary of all council vans too.

I had a cooncil guy keel-hauled a few years back. Unliveried van driven by vein-throbbing puce lunatic.

Police so alarmed by my report they spoke to his boss and told me what they'd done.

On my regular lockdown lunchtime ride I had as close a pass as I can remember from an HGV PO15 URM heading towards Pencaitland. Link

I'm not easily scared when out on the bike but this scared the proverbial out of me particularly as the HGV seemed to get even closer as it passed me. I reckon it was well within touching distance.

I've clocked an East Coast bus going the other way but didn't get any details other than the timestamp and I assume it's a 113 given the location?

Really sorry to see this - that's actionable. Hope you are ok. I'd put money on Stobart's, but possibly now sold on

Yep although I’m hoping I won’t have to cross tier boundaries to hand a CD-ROM over to the police at Fettes!

Truckingimages on ebay will sell (collectors and truck fans only) a nice photo of PO15 URM. It has a white tractor unit from Annya International, although the trailer is different from the video above, and there isn't a date of when photo was taken.
