Useless conjecture but would she have been let off completely if she'd run over a pedestrian? Crashed into another car? A building? Struggling to understand how you can plough through someone in your car, kill them, and yet be cleared of killing them.

Usually I would go with Masons. but in this instance I am thinking No Witnesses and then the person spotted on her phone after the collision has lied.

So that's two deliberate assaults on peaceful protesters using cars as a deadly weapon in a matter of days. Anyone going to be arrested or charged for these actions? Or is it a free-for-all now? If the latter, we'll be heading to a fascist state sooner rather than later.

@crowriver, the pro-choice person who was hit by the car was too scared to report the assault to the police.

The woman in the Range Rover is caught on camera with a bald tyre, that is serious.

"The woman in the Range Rover" has been lauded as a "hero" on GB News and a vile tabloid the name of which I refuse to repeat here.

I am somewhat relieved at the leader of our city council's forthright defence of the right to demonstrate. Quite a contrast to the UK PM's denouncement of IB protesters as "irresponsible crusties" and the UK Home Secretary threatening six months in chokey for blocking roads.

Sherrilyn Speid is the folk-hero that Brexit Britain deserves.

Essex Police are apparently "investigating" but it's not clear what. The wretched woman has apparently documented a variety of other driving offences on Instagram so they have a wide choice of reasons to pass the the time of day with her. If they choose to do so of course.

Thug outside the Chalmers needs feeding to the ravens too.

Had to save Mrs Garto today as Russian mafia looking guy mounted the pavement coming out of Charlotte sq and overshot a good deal as Mrs Garto was in middle of pavement.

Hey he was only parking illegally, what do a few pedestrians matter?

@gembo: "Russian mafia looking guy" - why does that make me automatically think "black Range Rover"? I actually thought your post did say that, until I went back and read it again.

Whenever I pass this place it always makes me think of the OCG in Line of Duty.

Yesterday at King's Theatre turn right to Leven St and Valleyfield.

3 bikes leaving from ASL in Tarvit St heading West. Lead rider gives way to me and 2 others heading East on the dangerous staggered right turn.
Angry driver behind sounds horn and accelerates and tries to overtake, briefly slowing down alongside on junction to berate women at front for her courtesy to other road users.

Thing is this is a very popular bike route being NCN75 yet doesn't have a green advance for bikes. Yes... it is part of the long awaited canal/Meadows link but we need action now.
Loads of other danger/conflict spots in city but due to bike volume this should be top for interim safety mitigation.

    Re the Maybury crash

Police and PF story seems to have changed rather from what was reported at the time?

“ Police Scotland said they are looking to trace the occupants of a stolen Audi A3 which was being driven in a “dangerous and reckless” manner and ultimately caused the incident.

The Audi fled the area and was found by police in Cowdenbeath, Fife, less than four hours later.

Police said it had been stolen from the Liberton area of Edinburgh more than a month ago, on April 17.”

Too much like hard work (or ‘inconvenient’ if local rumours were to be believed) to trace the stolen vehicle driver? I suppose having a “furriner” with overseas license issues to blame instead was too tempting.

Sheriff Keir said Thomson’s crimes met the “custody threshold” but his sentence took into account him being a first offender and “the remorse and shame” he’d shown.

Thomson, of Edinburgh’s Oxgangs area, was also banned from driving for 18 months.

At a previous hearing, Thomson pled guilty to causing serious injury to his relative by driving dangerously while under the influence of drugs.

The Yorkshire story is tragic and no sentence can really make up for what she did. However it's interesting to note the judge describing her car as a weapon.

Miss Moughan, who has two daughters aged 18 and 12, gave a blood alcohol reading that was three times over the limit and a reading for cocaine that was 10 times over the drug limit.

    Drug limit?

Trace elements of cocaine are in your system if you have handled a twenty pound note

This will diminish with contactless payment

    So ten times trace element?

Just making this up by the way

Hair analysis will show if you have used a drug hisotrically but urine test will not pick up historical use just very recent use

Mary Jane I think stays longest in the system as tested in urine

This convict had taken the Coke to sober her up for a drive and maybe not realised she had been diverted to another road as after killing the cyclist she continued to driver through /over mini roundabouts etc

@cocshep, was on front cover of the Sunday post in 1992?

Drugs expert Gembo says Ketamine - that is a horse tranquilizer I would not take it to go dancing

Seems I was not much of an expert….

Yes, they phoned on a Friday pm and everyone had gone to the pub. So left with me.

We knew it had been used in the Falklands but the crossover to rave culture was nascent.
