Not sure if it really fits but we don't have a Rubbish Pedestrian-ing thread so eh - jeezo that corner on Bank Street going down the Mound is fun isn't it. Third time I've been down and for the first time the endless traffic jam hadn't encroached on it, instead I had to bellow(they ignored the bell completely) at some dips**t tourists who'd decided the cycle lane was the perfect spot for them to take some pictures of the lovely quaint buildings.
Last night a ped who was attempting to take a photo of the Whiski Rooms (why tho?) walked directly into our large, white and -- importantly -- entirely stationary Transit minibus.
He looked very surprised, then got shouted at by a Dutch-sounding cyclist on a Dutch bike who was filtering past the traffic in the lane.

For my part, I’ll say the most surprising part is there wasn’t a lorry/van/taxi ‘loading’ there, as there almost always seems to be one of the above
Talking of The Mound reminds me: last Wednesday we were waiting to cross towards the Royal Academy when a private car attempted to turn left off Princes Street up The Mound. Now (a) they shouldn't have been on that bit of Princes Street (and you have to drive past a sodding great illuminated sign informing you of that fact in order to commit that offence), and (b) it's "no left turn" at that junction. They seemed to be vaguely aware that they were somewhere they shouldn't have been because they ended up stranded in no-man's land several yards beyond the westbound stop line and having to wait for us pedestrians crossing on a green man.
We then got on a bus heading back west along Princes Street, and from that we saw a second private car on Princes Street that shouldn't have been, this time facing east and waiting to turn right up The Mound - another illegal move. It was being followed by a police car, though, so I suspect the driver had already been stopped and spoken to, and told to leave that way rather continue their illegal progress any further.
So that was two failures to observe clear "no entry" restrictions within just a few minutes of each other.
Aftermath of some rubbish driving at Cameron Toll this AM. Many polices and the fire brigade in attendance. No ambulances which is somewhat hopeful (unless the victim had already been collected).

Bridge strike apparently. Yet again. It is still possible to pedestrianate under the other bridge past the graveyard so cycling/walking is largely unaffected.
Beware the occasional frustrated motons in the area. Some spirited attempts to add to the carnage were made as I went past. Most are well behaved and resigned to their fate.

I have been a private car driving illegally on Princes St, and to this day do not understand how/why we didn't get a ticket.
We had just moved to the city, and were relying on Satnav to take us through areas we didn't know well (so, 90% of Edinburgh).
We'd come out of the Omni car park, not realising that we couldn't go north, and the Satnav wanted us to make a U-turn on Princes Street, which we didn't think was legal.
We should have turned left on to the bridges, but were in panic mode by then, brains off.
so I have some empathy, but it also highlights, for me, why we need lower speed limits and good street design. relying on drivers to "do the right thing" is never going to end well.

Another ban for woman caught driving when disqualified

However, depute fiscal Mat Piskorz asked Coupar why she had told police she was driving to buy tobacco.
She claimed she could not recall saying this.
Sheriff Francis Gill rejected her special reasons plea and told Coupar: “I find it very concerning you drove on this occasion when you knew you were disqualified.”
He pointed out she could have called an ambulance or a taxi.
Two doses this morning at the South Charlotte St lights heading north. I was turning right ahead into George St so queued behind a waiting car rather than occupying the ASL.
A bin lorry appears from Rose St wanting to turn right and drives into the ASL. If it's not an illegal move, it should be.
Despite the bin lorry now being stationary, the car I'm behind then decides to start reversing. Much thumping of the car ensues (in lieu of thumping the driver).

Lewis Hamilton has his vehicle touched at the weekend, ended up in a big fine.
Crash this morning at the T-junction at the end of my street. Someone pulled out onto the main road (which is not far from a 40 to 30 speed sign at the entry to the village, but everyone of course doesn't slow down from 40+ until they're half way through the village). The low sun definitely won't have helped. But if you can't see then why would you just pull out into the main road regardless?
Random one this morning - red car stopped in the middle of the lane while the driver got out and did something - I'm not sure what but possibly cleared the windscreen / windows - and then drove off.
It was the "I'll just stop right here and make no effort to move to the side of the lane" behaviour that confused me - when I first saw the car I assumed it had broken down and I was going to ask if there was anything I could do to help but she'd driven off before I got there.
CocoSheperd - but unbelievably sometimes accepted as a defence for bad driving!
A brazen left hook by a white van driver turning into a side road off Portobello Rd and going across the new segregated path there.Given there doesn't appear to be give way markings on either the cycle path or the road who has priority here?
I think this is what the new highway code makes unambiguous (it's whoever is going straight on that has priority regardless of what lane they are in) but either way since you don't have a give way, it's incument on them not to make you take evasive action IMO.

If you were a pedestrian crossing from one pavement to another, you'd have priority.
Not that everyone knows that, but you would.
That's what I thought but thanks for confirming. On a related note I plan on fixing my mount so I can have my Cycliq and my Wahoo on it at the same time!
