Spotted a couple of humdingers yesterday round Jock's Lodge/ Holyrood Park area.

1st one was the National Express bus gingerly traveling along the bus lane at Jock's Lodge and clipping a group of bins (the large black ones you get outside tenements too, not your run-of-the-mill wheelie bins).
Then a few minutes later the car that turned left into the car park at St Margaret's Loch who ran right over the top of several parking cones causing at least one of them to explode in a shower of yellow plastic.

Just as I was about to filter past a transit van in very slow moving queue on Gilmerton Road yesterday, the driver decided to veer left and park on the pavement. Very lucky I was watching closely.

That fits with existing assumptions about who gets into what accidents, but I'll admit I'm always a bit suspicious of any reporting that breezily remarks they excluded some data but doesn't include any details - the amount of incidents where sex was unknown or not recorded is pretty pertinent to any analysis IMO.

This one is lorry v horse

Think comments are marginally better than if rider was on bike.

    But

    Driverist privilege…

Also, why is a 14 yr old allowed to ride a horse on a main road without a license/test but to drive a car you need x amount of lessons, then pass a test and then acquire insurance to drive a car.

With the potential of this incident to cause death or serious injury to a child, I'm sure the EEN will be following this up closely and will report back with the Police findings...

    Won't they? Won't they?

Apart from the stupidity of the car driver, the instability of the trucks is scary-“ -

Blue van man who decided to signal his frustration at me by revving and wheelspinning behind me as I was hauling up Leamington Tce. All because he couldn't overtake due to oncoming traffic.

Despite that, he still overtook me at the junction with Bruntsfield Pl, right on the junction, cutting hard left in on me at the stop to the junction. All to get caught at the red at pedestrian crossing across Bruntsfield Pl. At that point, I caught up with him and banged my glove hard against his side window. Window down... Made my position so that he couldn't drive at me...

Me shouting: "You're a bully, nothing but a rule 2 bully! Wheelspinning and revving behind me!"

Him: "I'm not a bully. Rule 2 off ya pr... rule 2"

Repeat 4 times. Cue perplexed onlookers

I love how the EEN are showing a photo of someone riding a 1980s bike in what looks like suburban America. Peak chipwrapper!

"A motorist who left a cyclist fearing he was paralysed for life has been jailed for more than 12 months. William Bowman overtook biker Mark Stewart on a blind bend before slamming his brakes on and causing the cyclist to smash his head through the vehicle’s back window, a court heard.

Mr Stewart was left lying on the road unconscious and covered in blood following the collision with Bowman’s silver Saab on a country road near Drem in East Lothian. The seriously injured cyclist was left fearing he would never walk again due to the severe pain in his neck. Following the horror smash, 55-year-old Bowman was seen leaving his vehicle and overheard blaming the biker for the crash in July 2020."

Cyclist in horror smash on B1345, near Drem.

This shocking story appeared the day @ELCouncil & @SustransScot published their vehicle friendly report on options for a safe path at Drem.

Lives are at risk, it is time for @norriehamp & @mcmillwynd to act before someone is killed.

Roof cut off, that is bad.

A car mounted a lamppost at the jet garage in Currie last night Polis had to attend as many of the obscenely wide cars could not squeeze between the crashed car on the pavement t and the little island. Carsmof less obscene width could get through.

Almost got taken out by a Lothian Bus today - turning left into Lochrin Place I stopped for pedestrians crossing, and by sheer luck I pushed off again literally just in time to avoid the bus cutting in to join the bus lane from taking out my back wheel.

Someone has managed to roll their car, completely upside down, In Coltbridge Terrace. A road which has parked cars both sides & is too narrow for a car & bike to pass each other. The mind boggles.
