    What is going on today?

Had lady in Silver Mazda passing the parked cars in her lane drive straight towards me on Cramond Glebe Road even though I am in primary. Black cab driver then passed me moments later chatting on his mobile phone on Cramond Road North. Poor overtake into oncoming traffic by black SUV, swerving back in front of me Cramond Road South.

In town had Coach blatantly run red light turning right from Lady Lawson Street onto West Port then blocking road as traffic ahead of him was stationary at the pedestrian crossing. To top it off, not one but two cars salmoning the wrong way along Drummond Street.

Maybe it is time to get a helmetcam.

Zesty, I don't think anything will come of your complaint about Countess Rosebery's driving on her own estate :)

I'll need to remember that as I pass through the estate! watch out for the Countess!

Excellent, all I need now is my own estate and I run people over at will.

Your probably right, though if CEC are making us get through the estate then something should be mentioned

The estate may be hers, but if the road is accessible to the public, then it's a "public road" with respect to driving a motor vehicle, and the bits of the highway code that relate to safety on the public roads still apply, even to the owners. Seatbelts on, no drunk driving, and no running the peasants public off the road!

Double whammy on Queen's Dr this morning. First a silver Toyota SO56 BHN whizzed past at over 30, maybe 40mph. Left enough space thankfully. Unlike next driver, in red Vauxhall Astra SK12 UYV, squeezed past at over 20mph with car coming the other way. My attempt to move into primary was foiled, as I didn't expect such a stupid manoeuvre.

    @zesty

Was this car not involved in a previous close pass on the estate with another member on here last year?

Yes, i was very close-passed in the Dalmeny Estate by a volvo driven by a grey haired older lady, last summer.

    Hope you'll report it.

I sent them a message via their website when I got home.

Update from my near death experience with the #41 bus last Saturday: Lothian Buses has not replied (other than the auto-email they send out) to my email last Saturday.

Most recent posts fall into the category of festival driving for it is upon us.

The bus one is a rare example of badness from Lothain buses. Everyday is a festival though for lady roseberry

    Date: Today, around 11am.

Place: junction of Clermiston Rd and Drum Brae Drive.

Me: headed north along Clermiston Rd.

Crazy woman behind the wheel of a car: waiting to turn right onto Clermiston Rd.

She waited until the south bound vehicle had passed and drove straight into Clermiston Rd and into my path.

By the time she realised I was there and braked, her car was fully covering the north bound lane.

Fortunately, I did a very sharp swerve and, by that point, was 2 feet across the line (in the empty south bound lane).

    Close one.

Heading from Bilston to Roslyn just after turning left on the 710 roundabout had 2 horrible near misses in the space of about 1 minute.

    1) estate car passed within inches of my handlebars and really gave me a shock. Car following behind gave me a huge amount of room, perhaps in sympathy. It had a german numberplate so I'm assuming they actually knew how to drive around bikes!

    2) getting towards the top of the hill and another black estate car attempts an agressive overtake coming up over the top of the blind crest towards me already half way across the road trying to pass a clio. He saw me and swerved back in for half a second then went for the overtake anyway!!!! I was in the gutter and it felt very close. Pretty horrible.

Rest of the ride had the normal idiots from midlothian in overpowered small cars overtaking like morons.

    Dear SRS Auto Parts,

I would to report bad driving by one of your drivers, registration SB12 ECW in a red Citroen van marked with SRS Auto Parts.

The vehicle was travelling on Pilrig Street towards Leith Walk at around 0845. A bus was stopped at a bus stop and your driver was so impatient to pass the bus (and consequently have to stop at a red light seconds later) that he forced me into the side of the road in order to avoid being hit by him.

My clothing and riding style would have made me unmissable if your driver was paying any attention to the road. If you look closely at the video, you can see he is looking at something other than the road in front of him.

You can see a video of the incident on YouTube here:

I have attached a screenshot of the driver to aid your identification.

I suggest you identify the driver in question and speak to him regarding his poor driving skills. I also suggest that he attend a driver improvement program before driving your vehicles again. You should remember that any driver in your marked vehicles is representing your company.

I would appreciate a follow up reply.

The other day: driver makes illegal right turn from Henderson Terrace to Dalry Road while on her phone.

Yesteday evening: driver takes very late amber while on her phone.

This morning: driver of red van makes a revvy mess of following me out of a junction and overtaking me. Stops at red light. I catch him up. My lights change, his lights for his right turn don't. However he lurches the van forward before spotting that his light is still red.

Two older people, she using a zimmer, waiting by a bus (not Lothian) parked on a double-yellow outside Tesco. Driver arrives and tells them they have to get on at the nearest bus stop and drives off. Sheesh.

Next time you get a driver moaning about cyclists RLJing, feel free to point them at this video. W678 SHR. I have timed it at 1.5 seconds after the light goes red, which seems like an eternity when you're watching it happen right in front of you.

BT Openreach van with trailer was waved out of Bankhead Terrace on to Cultins Road by another driver.

Did BT Guy look for the bike doing 25+MPH going down the hill?

Course not, and when I remonstrated with him for PUTTING MY LIFE IN DANGER, he stopped at the bottom of the hill to check "Just what is your F****** problem mate".

I started to explain about what he did wrong, but somehow it all just came out in a string of expletives which sadly doesnt resolve anything.

Came from a 10 year old boy driving onto the wol from south fort street on a dirt bike and hitting the cyclist in front of me. Both went flying, was pretty scary to see. I think that the cyclist was okay, I stopped but was a bit useless so wasn't much help.
I have been cycling that route for almost a year and that's the 1st dirt bike I have seen, hopefully the last!!

Was coming here to post about the complete Moron riding the dirt bike along NEPN at 615 this evening who almost crashed into me at 5 ways as I was turning onto the Chancelot Path. He came from direction of Hawthornvale and headed down the Goldenacre Path in direction of Warriston. He was then coming down the Bonnington Path past the allotments towards Steadfastgate as I turned into St. Mark's Park.

Guy in his late teens or early 20s maybe without a helmet. Looked to be a child's-size bike (do they call them "Monkey bikes"?), red and white.

I tried to call the Police on the 101 number but gave up after 5 minutes of hanging around in a call queue being told how important my call was etc. and could I call back later if it wasn't too urgent.

Same bike, I saw it at around 6. But maybe different driver as the one I saw was definitely very young. The cyclist was helped by a group if young men who afterwards were joking about asking for a shot of the dirt bike so could have been one of them as they were a bit older.
    Thanks for the welcome

We saw the same dirt bike about 18:30 heading towards Victoria park from WoL. Rider was about 20, dark hair, dark coloured hoodie and had a pointed chin and quite narrow face. Didn't report it as the camera on the bike wasn't on but in the past have been told to call 999 rather than 101 for these incidents

Saw the same bike at a similar time. Also thought older rider and looked like an accident waiting to happen. Turns out the cyclist is a friend and I met him earlier. Arm broken in two places, otherwise okay. He has reported to police but wasnt able to give them much of a description. Dirt bike was already out of control and appeared from the side.

Glad to hear your friend is alright. Tell him to contact me if he wants me to be a witness. The biker tk described sounded like one of the guys that stopped to help. The biker that hit your friend was wearing a pale grey hoodie, hood up with pale eyes (maybe). I saw him for a second time in w bowling green rd and he did just look like a scared kid. I maybe miss judging his age but to me he was early teens at most.

Blond middle aged woman in blue Polo with kid in back (school run?) decides to pull out of Viewforth (turning right into Bruntsfield Pl), as I was turning right into Viewforth.

I shout, "OI! Watch where you're going".

Her response: "Look at you, you're not even a wearing a h****t!"

As if it was my fault that she didn't look because I wasn't wearing one! I suppose her next line would've been: "And you don't even have a steel safety cage to protect you from idiots like me".

Makes me even more determined not to wear a h****t.

Today instead of Brunswick Road - Macdonald Road I went Montgomery Street - Annandale Street - Bellevue Road, to try and avoid the morons who try overtaking you in the 100m from the lights at the library to Hopetoun Crescent, before trying to make a turn left into the latter.

Anyway, for my pains I was almost wiped out by the Dial-a-Bus which stopped at the end of Hopetoun Street, looked around, and then pulled out anyway when I was about 5m away from him. Not sure who got the biggest fright, me, or the driver who suddenly found a hand nearly on his bonnet and being yelled at very loudly.

I'm going back to using my camera.
