Is there something going on I don't know about??
My train this morning (0630 Glas-Edin) was way busier than usual and Slateford Road, which is normally nice and quiet, was full of impatient cagers who were clearly in too much of a hurry to pull out to pass cyclists :-/

Slateford Rd business could be partly because of the Russell Road closure.
    Dunno about the train though.

I have to admit my journey didn't appear to be any busier than usual in terms of volume of traffic. Although I arrived at work slightly earlier than normal and, for the first time in months, there was a bike at every rail in the bike racks.

Traffic is very snarled West East at the moment.

Sun is bringing out the fair weather mob

Students on the pavement but they can still learn if you give them a shake

North Edinburgh paths were busy this morning. Cyclists, peds and dogs. Saw lots of kids cycling - to school presumably.

Balgreen was manic presume it was getting stuck trying to get up Corstorphine and Gorgie respectively. Must have added a full 2 minutes to my journey.

yesterday was bad, not so much busy as clueless cyclists - coming across jawbone walk and appearing to turn up MMW slowly but as I attempted to overtake, signalling and turning across MMW -- and pedestrians - looking at me coming towards them slowly but still walking forwards while much faster cyclist approached them much closer from other direction (me: 'look that way!' 'that way!')

Traffic will be getting worse then - unless more people cycle...

Did everyone go back to work and back to school today? It took me 40% longer to ride to work this morning, which is quite impressive over just four miles. Inglis Green Rd, Longstone Rd and the Calder Rd were all chock-a-block and barely moving, but @edintravel hasn't reported any accidents. I eventually resorted to a bit of overtaking and a lot of sitting in line and waiting, but was hampered by a lack of manoeuvreability of the monstrousbike; great machine for endless roads and touring, not so good for traffic jamming at 3mph.

Actually, the train home from Alloa on Sunday evening was also stuffed full. Barely room for a Brompton amongst the suitcases and bodies.

Yes, extremely busy traffic this morning. I almost destroyed a car on the approach to Picardy Place roundabout with my trailer.

I don't know about busy but I got very wet!! I made the mistake of wearing what I wore yesterday, so overheated. When I unzipped my waterproof to cool down I got quite wet from the mist vapour. I've no idea how long it took but I guess an hour and a half, 20 mins longer than I normally take. I got a head wind coming along Bagshot Road from Kirkliston to Crazyhall baracks, and kept the slow pace into Barnton until I was over taken buy someone speedy who I sped up and followed into town.

Sunday afternoon I found was also very busy traffic. Insanely so.

Maybe it's all the various road works making the roads more congested. Or maybe the poor wee dears just don't like a wee bit of cold weather, so hop into their cars with the heating on full blast.

Haven't found the trains that busy, but maybe it's when I travel.

  19. Didn't notice it being busier this morning, but traffic last night was pretty bad, both heading home on the bike and back into town in the car a little later.

Strangely busy this morning, I thought, until I caught a few words with a Lothian Buses driver who'd been radioed a message.

"Calder Road - accident near Wester Hailes roundabout - lengthy delays on all approaches"

    http://twitter.com/edintravel

Tailback on my commute started on the Lanark Road, all the way to the Calder Road.

I thought it was much busier this morning coming to Edinburgh from Fife and that was at 6.30am.
