Hmmm, Theory / Reality imbalance there.

They don't explain how anyone could get a car off the main road into side streets when the ploughs created 3 foot drifts on the junctions.

stick 'em on the pavements. Or even better, on cycle paths.

Noticed today that contractors have dumped a temporary traffic light (with forest of plastic fence around it) right infront of the little ramp up to the pavement at junction of Bruntsfield Place and Leamington Terrace. Fortunately woman had left a car (flashers on, double parked) in the cycle lane so I was already out of the way. I gave her my loudest frown when she stepped out and into my path and tried to open her driver's door...

Also, crossing suspended and "roadworks ahead" signs dumped in the cycle lane in opposite direction going up hill.

after my loudest frown I move on to shaking my head in a knowing way then shaking my head in an incredulous way, dependent on the nonsense encountered en route. I haven't shouted now for a long time [days] since adopting this more non-verbal approach

I gave a "come on" when a guy stepped into the road without looking. in a suit heading over to Pollock Halls while I was heading down towards the park

'frowns' and 'come on's.... This thread is deteriating into anarchy!! Perhaps this thread could be merged with the Bike surveillance thread?

As I frown almost permanently and feel that eyebrow-based expressions might not be too visible underneath a helmet I tend to go straight to exasperated-mouth-centered looks.

Perhaps by deliberately forming three-foot drifts around the outside of groups of parked cars the unnecessary use of private cars during Snowland could be curtailed. It seemed to accidentally work last year.
