BBC Scotland "Sport" coverage

For some reason, I ended up on the BBC Scotland "Sport" webpage.

I've always suspected known that this is basically a football website in all but name.

I counted up the links (there are 75).

84% football (73% of these, or 59% of the entire page is Premier league specific)
    8% Rugby Union
    3% Golf
    3% Boxing
    1% Tennis
3% were general links to BBC's own sports services

The Golf, Boxing and Tennis stories relate to specific matches (i.e. they're not generic / regular coverage).

Kind of pathetic "balance", isn't it.

It's strange, given which sports Scotland is world class in.

    kaps,

I am also not a BBC Scotland fan.

Their parochialism knows no bounds, and (if you delved deeper) you would see that it is barely more than a mouthpiece for both major glasgow football clubs (meaning they enjoy the lions share of the 59% total).

So, IMO its not even as good as you suggest !

I get so much more out of downloaded Guardian, or main BBC sport site, which (not perfect) but gives decent nods to other sports.

    Judo? Elephant Polo?

I have never bothered with sports pages, not so much because they are almost exclusively football but because they are almost exclusively male. Nothing of interest for me.

I too hate the BEEB for only having the post dinner show on FM. Dab has all the FM content until ~7pm when they switch to footie.... FM reception is pants in my office and we have Linux boxes so I can't even listen online as the permissions are restricted.

In our house "Sportscene" was generally derided as "Footballscene" and switched off/over at the first note of the intro theme!
