They'll save even more if they don't use their car as much.
Oh great. Look forward to more school run/newsagents for ciggies/nipping to the off licence/driving around for the sake of it wallies clogging up the roads next year...
in a recession everything must become cheaper...
Lessening the cost of running a car is no exception.
Edinburgh though does use a large pool of labour who cannot afford to stay in the city and find running a car makes sense outside the city limits.
Normal European cities solve this with fast mass transit divided into zones.
We're still waiting...!
PS- Other odd thing about our '24/7' economy is that on a Sunday public transport is poor with fewer buses and cars parked on the bike and bus lanes. So even if you are a bus season ticket holder don't expect to do too much.

TRANSPORT COSTS
The average rise in regulated rail fares to be capped at 6% - 1% above inflation - in January, rather than the 8% cap expected
Planned 3p fuel duty rise in January to be scrapped. But duty will go up by 3p in August.
